Diana was 18 years old when she sang "Can't help falling in love" and she is 20 years old now. The lower voice is her natural sound because she is a Contralto like Cher but this is where the similarities end because Diana has bigger range, vocal agility and far better control over her vocal instrument than Cher. Diana had to work very hard to achieve her high notes and what you heard on this video is not her top range, if you want to listen to that then watch her duet with Brandon Stone where she sings her song called "The day you...". As for the question of "how does she do it" then Diana herself gave the answer to that question, "In order to sing like me, you have to be born like me" and she is absolutely right, she has a combination of super rare vocal traits that has never existed together in a singer before and on top of that she had the dedication and will to put all the hard work and effort on top of her natural gifts in order to hone her sound and control to perfection from a very young age. She has dedicated her life to music and is plain enough for all to see.

Here are three reasons why Diana (the Queen of Goosebumps) doesn't sound human. First, she is a contralto, which is the absolute rarest type of female voice. It allows her to sing very dramatic/powerful, very (I mean VERY) deep, very dark, very rich. Second, she has a spectacular larynx. She's been called the vocal Eighth Wonder of the World. Third, she is polyphonic, which means she can produce multiple harmonics within her voice at the same time. This is what allows her to sound like two people at once. (more below) When you add all that up you basically get a person who creates her own auto-tune. She doesn't need electronic auto-tune. She IS her own auto-tune. And the effect when you hear her is totally mind-blowing. It's like she's singing right through you, like a sword straight into your soul. Literally NOBODY else on the planet has a voice like hers. She's not one in a million, she's one in eight billion. Having watched well over 100 initial reactions to her, only one did NOT say she was "unique". I don't believe Cher comes close!!!

Diana (Dee-Ana) in my opinion has the most incredible vocal instrument I have ever heard. Combine that with natural artistry, hard work and a passion for her craft and we have an incredible phenomenon of the performance arts world. That is not even mentioning her incredible ability to communicate emotion, her stage presence, her exotic, yet tastefully understated beauty and her natural charm and incredible story. What a treat it is to be able to watch this young woman develop and be able to enjoy so much of her art that is available to us via technology. Thanks for your comments. The last name is tricky, too. Sorry for the length of this comment, but there is a lot of background information to pass along, with specific information about this performance. This was a vocal competition called the “ShowMaskGoOn”, when she was only 18 years old. This competition was held over a nine week period one episode per week starting on September 25, 2021 until the Season finale on November 20, 2021. Diana competed against 8 other professional singers, and all the singer's were also members of the judging panel, (including Diana). For each individual performance they awarded judging points to each other, and when not performing Diana was also a member of this judging panel which brought the contestant total to 9 individuals. Each singer was required to perform a different song during each of the nine weeks, and each person had to use a different genre and use a different style of music. One of the 9 songs Diana performed was her cover of the Elvis Presley classic “Can’t Help Falling In Love”, which was her first song of the competition. This performance demonstrates what many vocal professionals have previously speculated. Diana Ankudinova was no longer developing into a Contralto, she is now a true contralto voice type. For those that may not know, a contralto voice is the lowest kind of female voice, and a true contralto is very, very rare. Diana opens “Can’t Help Falling In Love”, in her low, deep, and resonant contralto voice. During an interview Diana said she was unhappy with her lack of a higher vocal range, and it kept her out of the more prestigious Russian music academies. After one of the most prestigious academies rejected her, she decided, along with her voice teacher to concentrate on improving and extending her upper range. Now to answer a very commonly asked question about Diana’s voice, because vocal range is one of many points in defining a female singer's voice type. At age 13, in 2017, her vocal range was measured from a low of D3 to a high of A5, a solid Alto range, but still low for a 13 year old girl. In 2021, 5 years later at age 18, during her “ShowMaskGoOn” performance, Diana’s vocal range was again measured. Her vocal range now measures from a low of C3 (male tenor range) to a high of B♭5 (Mezzo Soprano range). The improvement and extension of her upper range is also on full display during the middle part of this performance. But it's not just how low or high she can go, it's the exceptional quality of her tone in her upper and lower registers, and her ability to transition seamlessly between her lower, mid, and upper registers. It's in her timbre, the roundness, fullness, and depth of her voice. Her ability to create, access, and use an enormous amount of resonance further define Diana as a Dramatic Contralto which is the deepest, darkest, and most powerful contralto voice type, and is the rarest of the rare contralto voice types. The depth and power of her full Dramatic Contralto chest voice is on full display during the final section of her performance. So the question becomes, how does she do it? How does this young female singer achieve this low, round, rich, deep, resonant, and profound sound? Without actually scoping her vocal tract while she is producing these low notes to actually see what is or is not happening, the general conciseness from many vocal professionals seems to attribute Diana’s unique vocal ability to her winning the genetic lottery, meaning Diana was just born with unique vocal anatomy. Diana’s vocal folds, (vocal cords), appear to be longer and thicker than the vast majority of female singers. Her larynx (voice box), also appears to be larger, and her oral cavity (mouth) is larger, plus her pharynx (throat), similarly appears to be longer than other female singers. This combination of vocal anatomy gives Diana the ability to produce the low, deep, rich, full sounds that along with her unique tone quality makes her stand out, but without actually scoping her vocal track, there is no way to be 100% sure. To conclude, near the end of Diana’s performance the judge on the top row who is the first to stand is the well known Russian opera tenor, Yusif Eyvazov from Azerbaijan, who was invited to be a guest judge. Yusif is also married to the world famous Russian opera soprano Anna Netrebko. At the end of Diana Ankudinova’s performance, she receives a standing ovation from all her fellow competitors. A fellow judge and competitor, Julia Parshuta, the blond woman standing in the center row dressed all in red is well known in Russia as a contemporary singer. Julia Parshuta looks totally shocked at the end of Diana's performance, puts both hands on top of her head with a look of total bewilderment and disbelief. Finally, the 9 week competition concluded on November 20, 2021, with Diana Ankudinova being awarded the most judging points from the other competitors over the 9 weeks, and was declared the winner of the series of nine programs.

One small correction: there was no link between her range and academies. One of our leading vocal academies had invited her just after her early brilliant performances. But when she tried to go there, they rejected her, cause "there's something with her vocal chords". There is always something with teenager's chords, they are idiots. Then they invited her one more time, but she rejected them instead. Now she is studying in GITIS for "artist of stage". It was not because of lack of something, but because of fair amount of idiots here in Russia.

Greetings from Scotland! This was an important performance for Diana that marked another level in her career. As Blair said and used the perfect word "Inexplicable!" That is Diana's vocal talent in a nutshell! She was born with spectacular vocal abilities and further training and practise has developed into a spectacularly unique sound! The guy with the beard who stood up with his hands to his face in shock was the World famous dramatic operatic tenor Yusif Eyvazov, who is married to even more famous operatic soprano Anna Netrebko! He was a guest judge and he said that Diana had a voice like no other, an incredible talent, a very special singer! That was some accolade from such a singer as him! But Diana has amazed and confounded all experts for her entire career. Ask yourself, how was it when she was fresh out of the orphanage and practically unable to speak, that just a year later, she was performing on stage solo at 6yo? I have yet to find such determination and self belief in a child. Even in the orphanage she never gave up hope and she believed there was something better that was meant for her. Living proof that you should NEVER give up, NEVER stop trying! Such an inspirational person!

You don't have the correct balance between your music source and your two mics. Your two voices are far louder than the music, when, to be able to listen to, comfortably, they need to be at about the same volume for the listener. If I set your speaking voices to a comfortable volume, the music is far too soft, but if I adjust the volume of the music to a level I'd like to hear it at, then your voices burst my eardrums! Also, you (the male) were far louder than the lady, probably because it looked as though you were often speaking very close to your mic, whereas the lady was speaking much further away from hers. To be listenable, all three of your sound sources need to be heard by the listener at about the same volume.
