I've come to enjoy this video much more than I did at first. Seeing each of the five members leading a gang of "their kind of people" from school is fun: the church kids, the trying-to-be-cool kids, the nerds, and so on. And the rap was adjusted from the original so it was really about PTX and their journey and how nobody could hold them down.

Avi and Kevin became very close as soon as they joined PTX for the Sing Off in 2011. They were roommates for a while, which allowed them lots of time to work on their synergy. They basically did become brothers, and they're still very close, staying in touch frequently. (And Avi was at Kevin's wedding last year.)

I wonder how their relationship is after the "legal issues" that delayed the release of Happy Now and the work on the original album. From what I can tell, they had a bit of a custody battle over the children (aka their songs). Not unusual to have custody issues with your ex.

@@mmg8823 Are you referring to Avi & Kevin having legal issues? It would seem like the "Happy Now" album is way far away enough from Avi's departure that he wouldn't have been involved in those songs. I could be wrong, since I don't listen to newer PTX stuff. But I know Kevin sometimes pops in on Avi's livestream chats, and there are happy greetings (Kevin's wife Leigh does, too). As for any interaction with the other 4, I haven't heard of anything.

@@charlottevan_8 No, I'm referring to Avi and PTX as a group. I suspect they were all under some sort of gag agreement (not an official gag order) not to discuss it while it was going on. If you look at Q&A and chat sessions over the past few years, the other 4 all go out of their way to NOT mention Avi. Even Kevin has made references like being fortunate enough to have 4 wonderful band mates in his time singing a cappella. By my count, it's 5. Kevin regards Matt as his younger brother so I doubt he was leaving him out. kzbin.info/www/bejne/aHjGeIWug7qVas0 Happy Now was filmed almost a year ago. Why the delay in releasing it? They are saying how glad they are to be back recording original songs now. Why haven't they been recording them, especially since the songs were already written? If things are so amicable why isn't there a picture of the 6 of them at Kevin's wedding? There is a picture of Kevin, Scott, Mitch, Kirstin, and Matt. A different picture shows a bearded guy in a blurry background. That's it. I need to find a tweet Scott made. It said something like "We are working on more original songs now." Nothing shocking there. That is roughly equivalent to saying "We are doing what we do". However the tweet was in response to a tweet about Avi and legal issues. Basically that tweet said that Avi had filed some sort of legal motion squashing the release of several original songs that had been written and was planning to continue to squash the release so we would never get to hear these songs. Scott didn't confirm or deny that; he just said they were working on more original songs. It's not what they said or did. It's what they didn't say and didn't do and where they decided to not do or say it. and, thinking about it, Avi did write some of the songs and helped arrange others. It's not unreasonable to think there could be issues regarding who has the rights to what.

You probably won't see this but that really high note in the background was Mitch, some people are saying it's Avi or kirstie but it's not their tones, no one else in the group does that tone when they go that high.

Love, love, love this song! So glad you reacted to this because very few reactors do. It showcases so much versatility with every single member of the group. Avi’s deep deep bass notes rock. The rapping by Mitch and Scott is awesome , and we can’t forget Mitch’s amazing high notes. Loved your reaction as well! The first 50 times( slight exaggeration ) I heard this, had to focus on a different member each time because it was moving so fast I could not concentrate. It's crazy that they decided against rapping during their hip hop week performance of Love Lockdown on The Sing-Off because they're so good at it. I recommend you check that one out as well as Let's Get It On and Dog Days Are Over, their 3 most "Chii" worthy performances from the show. 😉

Its great to see their growth and the love the judges have for them as they go along and keeo progressing in the competition. Yes the trio had been singing together for years but they weren't able to meet with Avi and Kevin until the day before their audition. What instant chemistry. They were all meant to sing together.

I think that high note you heard was Avi singing overtone. He can literally hold a low note and do whistle notes at the same time. Search Avi Kaplan overtone.

That high note has to be Mitch because you can account for all of the others. It could also be a continuation of his prior high note just mixed into the background for extra fill. Nice spotting though - made me listen twice. Awesome reaction once again !

Oh dear lord ... I think I just woke up my neighbours up CACKLING LIKE A HYENA at your comment about Avi's hips. I grew up in South Africa and I have heard hyenas cackling - trust me ... I sounded just like them. Next thing I know the neighbours will report me to animal control, people in uniforms will be knocking on my door, and shit will get real! "This is animal control - send out the hyenas!!" On a side note: I once went into an animal pen containing 1 year old hyenas (2 of them). They made a beeline for me. I realised too late that I really should not have been wearing brand new leather shoes. I don't know if you have ever had a year old hyena sniffing your feet and then progressing to nibbling your feet? 🙄 It shall never happen again.
