Injured my thumbs for 3weeks : 71kg Bw + 37kg for 2 full rep / and a half I was able to do OAP at 67 but i've lowered my weighted basic training and lost it, only at 90° right now. Back then i was able to pull +45 for 5reps and max at 55 For anyone: 5x5 can be the best at 3 days /week but you might loose endurance if you stick to it too long even at BW

@@alanequi2786 i did a couple pull ups with 75% of my body weight, could barely do one one arm pull up. Now i focused on doing clean explosive pull ups, when i reached 40 pull ups i tried it again. Now i do 5 pull ups with my left arm easily, no struggle. I recommend to focus on doing at least 30 reps with bodyweight, the added weight didn‘t help me at all.

You can measure v close by standing on an old school weighing scale, and pull the band from a fixed point overhead. With the regular CrossFit style thick bands, green pulls about 25kg purple about 15kg and red around 5kg. Below that, therabands etc. I got v good results pulling 5x5’s on a single gym ring and just working down through the bands like in the video.

Should we use a similar concept for pistol squats? Like should I try to squat my body weight + load equal to body Weight before attempting single leg pistol squats?
@ddpwe5269
@ddpwe5269 Жыл бұрын
The same concept can be used with any muscle/group and would be your best approach as you gradually build up. All the while mastering each movement, rather than jumping ahead and slowing progress/causing injuries. Don't forget about the assisted/unilateral work that needs to be done, just doing extra weight doesn't prepare the body to use one side at a time. ie: unilateral row, instead of a one-arm pull-up, training the same muscles with the proper posture, just with much less weight. Keep in mind, when you first start doing assisted/unilateral work, it's more of a balance exercise until your stabilizers get stronger.
@Dtp2296
@Dtp2296 Жыл бұрын
Yeah for sure, eccentric pistols are great, then assisted so holding onto something, then raised on a box so you train the muscles that help with balance under load.

If you have a routine just add weight to your excercises and lower the reps as needed. If your routine has pull ups in it just make them weighted pull ups and lower the reps you do in each set. Example: 3 sets of 10 bodyweight pull ups become 3 sets of 6 pull ups with additional 20kg. This is just an example, you will add weight and adjust your repetitions according to your own capabilities.

I know the interviewee is brutally strong, and he knows what he’s doing, but are those weighted pull ups reps while lifting his chin barely above the bar considered solid reps? Seems like he’s got more range motion that he can achieve given his strength level. Reason I ask is because when doing my weighted and unweighted pull-ups at the gym, if I only get my chin barely above the bar, I don’t count those reps. Also I recently found out about 2 weeks that I can do chest to bar pull-ups max of 4 to 5 reps. But if it’s a pull-up where it’s simply getting the chin/shoulder above the bar, my max is about 16 reps from a dead hang.

In a full podcast he explains that the competitions he competes in require him to only clear the bar with his chin so that is what he works out for.

Should I first be able to pull up adding one time my weight? Technically I should be able to divide it by two with a one arm pull up.
@rubenpartono
@rubenpartono Жыл бұрын
The motion looks like it demands slightly different muscle activations in a way that it won't be as simple as dividing by two. But as a disclaimer, I'm nowhere near close to achieving one arm pullups.
@alenakatharinahye8178
@alenakatharinahye8178 Жыл бұрын
I was wondering the same. Technically: (1) My weight ca. 60 kg - each arm pulls 30 kg in a 2-arm pullup. (2) Single-arm pullup means 1 arm has to pull 60 kg (3) to pull 60 kg per arm in a 2-arm pullup, I would have to pull 120 kg in total i.e. add my whole bodyweight in a weighted 2-arm pullup. Somehow that sounds completely unreaslistic! But maybe Daniel can do that - or is there something fundamentally wrong in my calculation?

Hello guys, actually the ratio can start at 70-80% of your BW, but generally 100% is more accurate! Fun fact is that anything more than 100% BW will transfer more or less in same way for weighted one arm
@tvujtatata
@tvujtatata Жыл бұрын
@@alenakatharinahye8178 You dont pull the weight of your upper or whole arm. Also the weaker arm could limit output of your 2 arm pull up. If you could do 2x BW added then it should be trivial to learn it imo but that's super elite level lol. I could pull like 25 % when I had 1.75x without any practice.
