Can't package in Unreal Engine 5 ( UE5 ) simple fix !

if you have problem packaging your game inside UE5 check this out. plus we will go through how to package the game when it says binaries are not installed , would you like to download them from launcher ? it is because of the plugins and in my case Nvidia's DLSS was responsible for it.

Thank you! This worked for me! Although, I did copy and paste the link UE5 output log recommended me to dl right into my browsers url, an immediate dl and it fixed my packaging issue immediately!

Engine has huge potential, but I have spent days trying to make a .exe of my test scenes. Worked before, then something happens and there's a million variables that only an expert can figure out while the rest of us just spend days uninstalling, reinstalling stuff and potentially breaking stuff in between crawling the internet for various fixes and guides, often with UE4 interface and references. I really feel like Epic need to stop spending all their time of the graphics side of things and actually focus on the basics if they want their engine used by anyone beyond. If there is something wrong with my project, I want epic to red flag like its cancer or attempt its version of a fix. unless the user does something utterly retarded, they need to do more to help people cos this is making me want to give up or try Unity instead.

I mean tons of people already use the engine for a bunch of stuff and there's way more possible in it than just "oooh pretty" although that is their main selling point. You just gotta learn how to use it.

my project just keeps giving me an error when trying to package it "Unkown error" is all it says, even when i toggle to just show errors/warnings. its the only error given

Guys I was going crazy I couldnt find anything, and after 3 hours of troubleshooting I found out I had to change my game icon. project settings>windows>gameicon. It must be a proper ICO and 256x256.

I fixed the error, uninstalled bridge and updated visual studio. Then reinstalled and it worked.

Is DLSS supported now? I'm getting "Unknown Error" when trying to package. I have downloaded the DLSS plugin, could it be that that's causing the issue?

As much as I learned they havent supported html since UE4.25. so no support for ue5 as well. You can probably use pixel streaming instead of html. worth a shot

This is like my 4° video/attempting to fix this error... no sucess. It's frustrating, I really want to give UE5 a try (after spending about 8 years with Unity), but this seems impossible! I tried everything? I have installed a bunch of SDK, copied the .dll, etc. etc. nothing works.

Sometimes it takes some time to figure out all the problems in packaging but you will eventually get it working. just be patient and you will have your results :D also I highlighted your comment so you could ask any further questions just in case someone could help you fix the issue

if you go a little bit back in the output log it usually explains the reason why it fails and sometimes it even has an answer with it, if not just copy and paste the issue in google and you should be able to easily solve it. Its a weird thing though, sometimes its easy to fix sometimes its insanely hard

im literally going insane, after working its done packaging, NOTHING HAPPENS IN THE TARGETED FOLDER, the last 2 lines in the output log are ATHelper: Packaging (Windows): The system cannot find the path specified. okay so the phrase "re-fart your computer" is not allowed on youtube. (I didn't use the word fart, but it would delete the comment if i used the correct word) now it should work posting the comment. So in case anyone here is still lost. Try the "Visual Studio 2022". (or any other year i guess) Search for "Visual Studio Installer" in the Start Menu. Use the Installer to install developer options including the sdk Make sure to check the sdk options And install now. reboot your Computer. It should now recognize the sdk

Im on the latest 5.0.1 from the main branch and i can package everything fine no errors, but then it throws up random errors when trying to launch it.. can't believe UE5 release has been such a flop, why release something clearly nowhere near ready for use, wasted the last week trying to get it working properly. Can't even create a brand new thirdperson example and package and run it, absolute joke.

I have the exact same problem and it's starting to tick me off. I'm currently uninstalling UE5.0.1 and reinstalling it see if that makes a difference. If that doesn't work, maybe I will just make smaller projects in Unity. At least Unity works out of the box. lol

If you change the main files in Unreal 5 or add to it. Your Unreal will crash!

Didn't work. Nothing helps. If this is the case for any of you guys, then disable some of your plugins. try one by one to see which one causes this. This is all I've left to do. tried every.

@@NikolaiTarkovsky yea ...it's the ue problem ...usualy it says with res words what the problem is ...(try give shorter names to the project ,or move it to shorter way to unreal acces it for example (C:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\VGX this is long way where the project is AND this D:\UE Projects this is shorter )so unreal sometimes on long names it give some errors ) ....other thing is after dowing some stuff always do Build project inside unreal editor (build lights , stuff and from time to time try build and before dowing something to project always do Backup)
