My HERO!! Dude - I've been trying for a year to get my 3 in home computers to see each other. In 1 minute, after watching your vid, they're all showing me the shared files I've tried so hard to get to happen! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!!

Add me to the list of people who can't thank you enough for this simple, easy fix. Utterly inexcusable that Microsoft can't avoid this problem, much less provide the same quick info on how to deal with it. Googling "computer not visible on windows network" only produces about a hundred-million-billion examples of people who have this problem. Yours is the first real fix I've found. Thanks!

Brilliant, thank you. I have three computers at home, I had no problems with my Haswell-E system seeing my Coffee Lake system and my Ryzen system, but my Coffee Lake system and Ryzen system couldn't see each other. I had tried everything I could think of and more and still couldn't get the two computers to see each other. If it wasn't for the fact my old Haswell-E system could see my Ryzen system, I would have thought some Intel vs. AMD software trickery was preventing my Coffee Lake and Ryzen computers from communicating on purpose. It was the services not starting that was the issue with both systems. Gotta thank Microsoft for purposely making our lives more difficult. Homegroup was perfectly fine, their reasoning to remove it was iffy at best, without it it just makes things more difficult for people that aren't network savvy. Hardware has always been my thing, not networking so this was a big help.

Thank you, thank you... this not only helped me get my Windows 10 computers showing up on each other again, but also made one of my Windows 10 computers that hasn't been showing up show up again on my Windows 7 laptop. Something I have been trying to solve for some time and came back to give one more try today. Everywhere else I read gave the same old same old that I had already done, going into the Services was something totally new to me and that did the trick.

Thank you so much! You are wonderful. This is what KZbin is all about. People helping people. I have a 5 computer network in my home, consisting of three laptops, and two desktops, and after I upgraded 4 of them to Windows 10, I noticed this issue of not seeing my shared folders. Well this worked perfectly. You would think Microsoft would have addressed this issue with a patch by now.

Such a simple solution... Had me frustrated for months now. (With me the problem existed before 1803 as well, sometimes I managed to do "something" that worked temporary, but never could figure it out, what actually made it happen. This however... Great and easy explanation, and hooked up all my computers in a few minutes. Thanks a lot for the video!!! (and of course to the original problem solver Pauli O. as mentioned in the video). Thumbs up!

Thank you so much - this fixed my problem perfectly. I was pulling my hair out trying to figure out wth went wrong, though I knew it was due to Windows update breaking something.

Me too! What good is setting folders and files to share if those computers can't see the sharing computer? It's deliberate crap from Microsoft to get you to buy other solutions.

Thank you so much! This solved my issue after updating to the new 1803 MS Update. I'm now able to see and access my other computers on my home network. The issue was also causing me not to be able to find my printer to print, but that also was resolved with these services started!

hey chaps n gals, all of this is great for many, but i had to do a few extra steps. 1. share the folder or drive(right click >properties>ADVANCED SHARING>share it) 2. then go to the specific drive of the folder and( properties> Security>Edit>Add>then type "Everyone" click OK) . So step one is obvious because you need to share the files, but for some reason i had to give permission(step 2) for people to access drive on witch the shared file reside, the steps in the video helped me see the other PCs on the network but i still couldn't connect to them, so hope this helps

In addition to following these steps, what worked for me (because the issue has happened again) was going to Settings > Network & Internet > Status, go to Network reset and on the next window click the "Reset now" button and wait 5 minutes (because it's doing the reset) and then it'll automatically restart. When you log back in, you'll get a notification saying "Do you want your PC to be access by other computers", click Yes for that. Your PC should now be shared. Do this only on the PC that can't be seen.

I've all but given up on Microsoft's very disappointing network explorer and tools. I've resorted to using 'Advanced IP Scanner' (currently a FREE download) which quickly shows and provides easy access to all my networked computers and shares. 'SoftPerfect Network Scanner' basically does the same thing but costs about $40. There are other similar products that are currently free as well. www.advanced-ip-scanner.com/ (currently FREE) www.softperfect.com/products/networkscanner/ ($40+)
