Can the Benchmade Mini Claymore Keep Up With the CPM D2 ? Benchmade has been using CPM D2 for a while now and I’ve even owned a few several years ago. CPM D2 is a much different steel thank just D2 at least in my experience. In this video we take a deep dive into the Mini Claymore and talk about the good, bad and also do some real world testing to see how the performance is. I have to say this one really shocked me. What are your thoughts on this one?

#1; BTW, those marking are Morse code fot FTE, "Front Toward Enemy." The Claymore Mine has that shown on the front of the explosive device, which happens to have a shaped charge behind a bunch of pellets.

I bought this knife late but it's pretty awesome. Weird to see people complain about price. There are a few good knives out there that are cheaper, yes, but there are thousands and thousands that cost the same or more and nobody says nothing. You can get a cheap Spyderco for $50-$250 with FRN or flat G10, or one of the higher ends for $280-$500 and nobody cares. Benchmade sells a $500 knife and everyone goes crazy. Hell there are tons of Chinese knives from $250-$500 now. I like Benchmade because they are all so different. Totally different looks and feels, tactical, EDC, hunting, fishing, Bushcraft, auto, OTF etc. I stay away from their kitchen knives, which are overpriced, but I'm not upset about it I just buy kitchen knives from North Arm.

Loved the test, that thing literally blew through that denim. I agree with you on the price. As much as I like USA made knives, they have serious competition with the others. That said, this one has been in my BHQ wish list, awhile. Nice One.

I’m not surprised the knife did well. Benchmade makes a quality knife. I have a full sized Claymore and I enjoy it. But I bought it a while ago when BM was more affordable. I think their pricing has become out of touch with the market.

Better pricing than some other brands, Microtech comes to mind.

@@thefrogking481 True. Even some of the Chinese brands are getting up there. If you want an extreme example, @metal_complex bought a custom Microtech/Borka collaboration Stitch. It was only $6000.

@@mazziotic8664 While it’s been a while since I’ve carried the Claymore, it worked well. It’s very snappy and very sharp. The one issue I had is that the pivot would loosen up. I’ll get around using some Loctite on it someday.

I have one and I love it. And for the edge I use my work sharp sharpener elite and it works awesome keeps my knife as sharp as the day I bought it

Trying to decide on a new automatic after losing my Gerber 06’ auto. People swear by benchmade but I do see reviews saying for the price some don’t hold up to the reputation. I’m torn on going with a BM Claymore or one of their competitors. Expensive isn’t always better

I have no idea what benchmade is doing with their CPM-D2 the edge lasts longer than any other knife I’ve ever had even in S30v and S90v 154cm etc I figured the claymores would have D2 to be STRONGER not for edge retention but I was wrong
