No to Laine. Not the 35-40 goal scorer he once was. Need to do more than blast one timers. Not a complete player and all players need to play defence. Canadiens can find a better use of the cap space.

Apparently in your mind the Habs still do not have enough bad contracts on the books? Instead of trading valuable assets for a bad contract try and sign Monahan or Toffoli that would bring a hell of a lot more than Laine.

No to Laine. at 8.7M, he is too expensive and under performing. Plus now being with a second NHL team asking to be traded yet again; he's a PLD drama player. I think the Kings would love to dump PLD or pay a lot less for his performance last season. The fit isn't there for the Habs.

If we acquire him, we are trading away a bad contract in return. Say it's josh Anderson, that's 5.5 going back, and if they can get Colombus to hold a million, it's Laine for 2M for 2 years. Still no?

PLD was expensive and signed 8 years. Laine will be cheaper and only has 2 years left. It's a worthwhile gamble to take as the Habs have the capspace.

Yes. Trade for Laine. Consider trading the 5th. It's a gamble, but he's entering his prime, he's a former 2nd overall pick, and with his shot and talent he could be insanely good for the team. Habs fans would love him. This would help solidify our strategy of acquiring former first round picks, particularly in the top 10. Slaf 1st overall. Laine 2nd overall. Dach 3rd overall. That would be amazing. Plus the added bonus of furthering the Habs / Leafs rivalry. Matthews against Laine. 1st overall and 2nd overall from same draft year. Would make for a great story.
