Wow, I was impressed what mobility you have doing those squats, and at the same time I was feeling the pain. I look forward to see the progress.

I was watching one of your old videos on what to eat and drink when in a wheelchair and I thought I was the only one who liked the coconut la croix. Also I am currently 13 and was born with spina bifida with my left leg being shorter than my right and having a club foot.I am getting my new wheelchair this month hopefully and I was wondering if you could give me some beginner workouts to do. I’m using an electric wheelchair right now and I am little bit on the overweight side. Your videos have already taught me so much and I’m very thankful that you make them. I am inspired by you every time I watch you even though I don’t have my wheelchair yet I still am learning more.

I started doing housework again between pain and depression I’ve only been getting up to see to the animals... then one of my cats passed and it made my mental health even worse... but when I feel like that I watch your videos or I get in my chair and pretend I’m making a video (sometimes a collab with you) for my channel on getting my trashed apartment sorted in my chair lol- it really helps. Sounds lame but it really does help and I am going to be doing wheelchair edition clean with me’s soon because I noticed there isn’t really any and I want to fill that gap but for now it’s make believe just to get me going....

I’m on the same journey. I got my C-Brace about 1 month ago. My ability to stand straight, fully extending my core has significantly helped as the C-Brace assistants with increasing my overall stability. I can go all day on my C-Brace. No canes, walkers, wheelchair, wall walking or furniture surfing to get from A to B. I’m progressing back into a more physical life. I do have other complications with TBI, breathing, 24/7 vertigo, and chronic fatigue due to genetics, but I’m not letting those get in the way of my progress. The C-Brace has helped tremendously with daily functionality so I can stay active for the better part of the day, verses stop-go, stop-go. Hopefully, this will help you too. I’ll be watching closely as very very few people actually have these prosthetics and truly understand the uniqueness of circumstances like these. Thank you for sharing these videos. I appreciate this.

This is so exciting for you, loving watching the whole process of trialing the Cleg brace. Can’t wait to see how you get on. I used to wear a straight leg brace for over 20 years and was always hoping that something like this could be possible before I became an amputee. The Cleg brace looks so more streamlined compared to the other exoskeleton braces out there (the Rex etc) I hope that it’s not too bulky or too heavy. So stoked for you Richard 🤗🥰

I am really hoping you can get back to walking freely. I am going in the opposite direction from walking to wheels because somehow I broke my back in my sleep. I went to bed healthy fully able to do anything even ride a dirtbike, then I wake up and can't walk and get rushed to the ER and they said I had an infection in the bones of my spine and I had fractured my back up from S1- L5 so they caged it and that didn't work so I ended up at Shands and they did a rodding procedure, but that didn't work too well so they had to do another surgery and extend them up to T something all I know is it is 1/2 way up my spine. I can't stand up straight even if I push off my walker and because I am bent over so much and have such a weak back I use a wheelchair and I am about to be measured for my 1st custom chair. I hope I can afford to get the parts I want on it we will see what Ins. Covers. It will just be nice to be able to go somewhere by myself because I will be able to handle lifting the chair myself. Good Luck to you I look forward to your success.

I pretty much had L1 and L2 vaporized in my accident nearly 9 years ago. They said it was a miracle I was still alive. I'm still alive, apparently, but moreover, I walk around town with little to no problem. Usually thereabouts of two miles in distance is how far I walk. Plus I have a job that requires me to stand a lot.

If you lived anywhere near me I'd go to the gym with you but I have a lot of other health issues including a bad heart so you would totally kick my butt physical therapy has got me addicted though because u have seen some progress. Not a lot. I can kick my feet about three inches past my foot plate and on a couch it somewhere with a slippery surface, with socks on I can push my legs straight on my own if their bent but I can't pull them all the way back yet without using my hands so it's not much but considering I had little to no progress in the past 7 years and went from almost noting to what I can now in 17 weeks at this PT center

Why is the right leg bigger and can someone tell me why he's on a wheelchair beacuse he looks like he can walk?
@emilyhoneybell70224 жыл бұрын
So basically his spinal cord got damaged and he couldn’t walk for a bit but them he regained SOME function so can walk for short distance and short periods of time but it is extremely painful so it is more practical to be in a wheelchair. One leg is bigger than the other bc a part of having a sci is hat the muscles in the affected areas atrophy away bc they aren’t used as much. Also just bc he can walk a little bit doesn’t change the fact that he has other sci things like lack of bowel and bladder control, nerve pain and pressure sores
@sailorbrite4 жыл бұрын
Just because someone is in a wheelchair doesn’t mean they can’t walk at all. Common misconception that Richard covers in some of his other videos. Sometimes it’s not their legs at all. My mom had cancer and pulmonary hypertension and would get winded if she walked far so a lot of times she just walked until she was tired and then I pushed her. Or like Richard some people can walk short distances until pain catches up with them. Or they can walk but only very slowly, and wheeling themselves in a chair is much, much faster.
@ak56594 жыл бұрын
He can walk short distances bec some (but not all) of the necessary muscles are usable. But every step is extra effort compared to regular walking. The more he walks one day, the more pain and exhaustion he has the next day.
