If weed was legal and you bought it from a company brand name at a store and they laced it with fentanyl, THEN YOU COULD LEGALLY SUE THAT COMPANY. However, if cannabis is illegal and a drug dealer laces it with fentanyl, the only thing you can do, is try to get your drug dealer arrested and try to find another drug dealer or give it up. The law that prohibits cannabis, does 99.99% of the harm associated with it and that is not an excuse to keep it illegal, that is a reason to make it LEGAL, so that people will be held accountable for making a safe substance dangerous.

I think their harder stance on Marijuana is due to the fact that it is more associated with criminal elements. More likely to arrest someone and then having possession of Marijuana than arresting someone with a proper job with Marijuana. They just see drugs as such a counter culture in a sense where people that don't contribute to society or have zero sense of altruism. Probably due to possession rates of people doing criminal activities? You ever watch live pd or cops, every other arrest is drug related in a way. Tldr: possession is secondary to the crime committed. Easier to put someone away for that crime with a secondary charge. This is done because laws are very weak and people will be on parole in a fraction of that initial sentence. Hard to keep criminals in the revolving door of prison without these other charges.

Honestly, nobody should be ever in jail for their personal use of ANY substance. While some substances like heroin and meth tend to lead to bad behavior and banning them makes a lot of sense, a lot of substances differ a lot from person to person and it's always the person who's doing bad things, it's not like the substance makes them do the bad things

Addiction/schizophrenia can both lead to dangerous behaviour. Psychedelics and addictive chems are both dangerous potentially but I still agree with you totally. All drugs should be legalised and funding should go into helping people be happier and hopeful for the future.

@@zahar1875 Bath salts got a really bad reputation due to a few outlier stories in the media, most of which weren't even true. I've done them many, many times, as well as basically every other drug (to lesser and greater degrees) that most people have heard of. Unless you mention something pretty obscure, chances are I've done it at least a few times. They felt like a cross between coke and ecstasy but not as intense as actually crossing those two. They produced zero hallucinations or delusional thoughts in me or any single one of the tons of people I did them with, not a single one. The first time I tried them, I did them for hours in a car with two friends who were straight males like me. In addition to being flooded with energy, positivity, and happiness, we felt really comfortable expressing our appreciation of each other's friendship and ended up tearing up a little and having a group hug, thanking one another for always being there. Sober, or even drinking or smoking weed or something, nothing like that ever happened, didn't even have handshakes. It wasn't sexual or even gay in a romantic way. It was like just actually being that platonically pleased with our friendship and suddenly comfortable speaking about it despite our masculinity. Another time I called relatives and told them I loved them and would start calling them more often, which I did. Unlike when that sort of thing happens with drinking, there was zero impairment to speech, coherent thought, or motor skills. All it really did was dump a ton of "happy chemicals" while leaving us otherwise entirely sober. The only looming danger I saw was that, predictably, such a feeling is addictive. Most of the stories about bath salts, to someone like me who has actually done them with many people, sound about as crazy as those stories from the 50s about people smoking weed and jumping off rooftops because they thought they could fly. Also that story about a man eating someone's face on bath salts was falsely reported. The only drug in his system was weed actually, which also almost definitely didn't cause it. He just had a sudden onset of mental illness and was experiencing psychosis when he did that. I place them in about the same category as coke and E, things that are addictive and that you can OD on if you do too much of, but that are super unlikely to make you just instantly drop dead, jump off a roof thinking you can fly, or eat a face.

no-one should be in jail for possessing a little bit of meth, lsd, crack, cocaine, etc either
@flashraylaser157

Agreed. I can see it being legal to do and possess meth, maybe even sell, but still illegal to manufacture, though, although I feel that should have a charge way lesser than it does. I feel we all have the right to put whatever we want in our own bodies. The only reason I don't also support legalization of manufacturing of a few drugs, is that unfortunately there's no denying that certain extreme drugs make people far, far more likely to carry out violent crimes on innocent others.

Well, some stuff like synthetic opiods, bath salts and stuff are truly evil, nobody benefits from those in the long run and if they are legally available, a lot of people with little self control and education about substances can get themselves into serious troubles
@bluemamba5317
@bluemamba5317 Жыл бұрын
@@zahar1875 I would argue that people with little self-control and education about substances already are in trouble. Furthermore, if it was legalized there would be much more common knowledge about drugs, so even lower educated people would know more. And ofc goverment would probably restrict 100% poisons that will kill you outright, maybe even restrict how much you can withdraw + you would always know exactly what drug you get (no cuts of other drugs etc.) so much safer overall.

I heard the president can federally legalize cannabis, without needing approval by anyone else. There are slower ways, like going through congress first, but the president still has to sign off on it.
@ihmcurious
@ihmcurious Жыл бұрын
As far as I know, the president himself can't do it right now. Congress delegated it to the Attorney General through the Controlled Substances Act, and an executive order from Nixon delegated it to the DEA. It would be interesting to see a president try to reschedule it directly...
@FusionDeveloper
@FusionDeveloper Жыл бұрын
@@ihmcurious I have heard several youtubers claim all the president has to do is sign a paper and it's done and how a president doesn't need any other input. If this is false, maybe they are taking something true and assuming other details, such as, if laws make it through the house and senate and to the president, then all he has to do is sign the paper and put it into law, but simplifying it to "president just needs to sign paper" and then adding on "doesn't need congress/house/senate", which results in misunderstandings being repeated.
@ihmcurious
@ihmcurious Жыл бұрын
@@FusionDeveloper I would be interested to hear the evidence for that claim. I am guessing that they heard it's up to the Executive Branch, and they assumed that meant the President could do it directly. But my research indicated that the CSA gave the power to the AG, and Nixon's executive order delegated it to the DEA. Maybe Biden could delegate that power back to himself by executive order if he wanted.

This once again shows me that the american people don't understand their own system. Weed as a secondary option to other painkillers would be horrible for profits. Weed is one of the most used & therefore most powerful asset for the DEA to give them a reason to exist. Regardless Alcohol is much worse and generally most of these drugs make you happy when you shouldn't be. Less competition though I guess since they are all going to be brainmelted.
