Absolutely no offense except Matt Stover... We went many weeks without scoring a touchdown...went from Qb Tony Banks to Trent Dilfer who was basically inserted to do no harm...it took the best defense in NFL history to win the SB. Duane Starks returned a kick for a touchdown...I think Jermaine Lewis may have returned a punt for a TD, Matt Stover probably had a few field goals, and the defense probably scored points because it seemed like there were about 5 Ray Lewis' because he was making plays all over the field and received SB MVP.

In theory Lamar's struggles would be an issue, but when you consider that every time he's played the Steelers with the exception of 2020 during COVID, that game has been in Pittsburgh, and Heinz Field has been the Ravens house of horrors since it opened in 2001 regardless of who they've had on that roster and coaching staff. The only good news is that Lamar will finally get his home game against the Steelers that he's desperately been waited for, and that probably is going to be a Blackout. (I know they've already had their official Blackout game against Buffalo, but they've had two of those in the same year before and usually it involves a game against the Steelers) December 21 is going to be the day that changes the balance of power in this rivalry just like the Immaculate Extension did 8 years ago. PUT IT ON RECORD!

Defense wins championships, but if they get to that SB, it will be because of Russ, the offense, and special teams as well…a complete team effort! It reminds me of how people gave the LoB all the credit in the world for the Seahawks’ first SB after they had been 7-9 in the two seasons before Russ was drafted - with an elite D, Marshawn Lynch, and Matt Hasslebeck at QB to boot. This Steelers team hasn’t done squat in years besides tease fans with a few 10+ win seasons, and that was with Ben Roethlisberger at QB. Russ is the difference-maker. If it were so easy to make Najee Harris and George Pickens play at a higher level, Kenny Pickett and Mason Rudolph would still be in Pittsburgh. The D will not get the Steelers to the SB alone. It will be a team effort. Defense isn’t sufficient to win championships, but it is necessary to win championships literally 94% of the time. Look up the 58 teams who have won SBs. Maybe 5 did it mainly on the strengths of their offenses.

Seattle was 23-43 the 4 years before Russell Wilson arrived. The QBs threw 67 TDs with 69 INTs The next 4 years with Wilson they went 46-18. Russ threw 106 TDs with just 34 INTs. That was the difference. Seattle was 14-18 under Carroll the 2 years before Russell Wilson arrived. The QBs threw 25 TDs with 30 INTs. The next 2 years with Wilson, they went 24-8 and Wilson threw 52 TDs with just 19 INTs. The defense and Lynch weren't winning anything with those bum QBs So all the talk about the defense and Lynch carrying Wilson was complete BS because why weren't they carrying the other QBs?

They pushed the limits of the rules, and got away with it because the NFL has a grudge against Baltimore due to Art Modell screwing over Cleveland.

The smartest thing Russel Wilson could do would be to goto Justin Fields and say the following: I'll accept an under vale contract is you agree to stay in Pittsburgh and be this teams designated closer. Anytime there is less than 6 minutes in the game and the Steelers have the lead, Justin, you come in and close it out. It's a role Fields would excel in whilst he sits back and continues to learn the position. Then in 4 season, here you go buddy. The keys to the Ferrari are yours. Pay Fields the $30 mil/year he's going to get offered by other teams to be your closer whilst Russ takes $20 mil/year to get his chance at two more Super Bowl appearances. At $50 mil, they'd have the best QB room in the league and , just like a Baseball pitching closer, Justin would have a major role on the team whilst he awaits the perfect team to take over when Russ retires.
