True, but your eyes can officially see up to 60fps and hear within a Hz range. Now we can simulate things to trick our senses, but sometimes our brain will still know it's fake, even though the data in front of us is there. NFS isn't GTA or Saints Row 3 or 4. It's menat to be within a certain window of believability yet still arcade. without going WTPhysics?! every 5 seconds

but there's a difference between fun and annoying arcade physics. All the new nfs games have that shitty cornering mechanic and it's terrible. Carbon underground 1 2 and most wanted are great examples for good arcade physics.

Honestly, I'm rather mixed on the handling physics overhaul. The cars being rather grippy and able to firmly plant around corners is a welcomed change, and definitely shows that its possible within the rather crap game engine.. *but its also clear as day that the game was designed WITH brake to drift in mind* . Taking that away, you can see just how much it becomes a struggle with tight, sweeping bends, and especially makes the drift events far less fun and enjoyable. I think if they added the extra grip but still kept some element of brake to drift, it would've struck the perfect chord. And.. ugh, *again with another mod that tries to make the police way more difficult.* I'm so tired of seeing mods that try to adjust the cop difficulty, because they ALWAYS go overboard. This appears to be no different.

And I really hate that "EA catch-up" that they give the cops. You could mod your game and run a flying saucer down the track and they will still catch up to you effortlessly (well anyone who is 'chasing' you will), completely diminishing the importance of a player's driving skill.

I love the unite Heat and beat it twice but I just gave this one up after Skyhammer. Boarderline impossible. I mean, modders are usually hardcore of the hardcore players, of course everything is easy FOR THEM. Yet games are supposed to be enjoyed, not to torturing you into ragequit. Maybe they should consider letting more casual players test the mods before its release.

I still believe Payback had the best handling in the whole series reboot by far. It was hella fun, my only concern were the performance upgrading system and the lack of control customization in PC (and maybe online). Everything else was amazing. Still, the most fun I've ever had in arcade racing games was BY FAR the Midnight Club series, MC II takes the lead by miles, followed by MC 3, also by quite a margin against the 3rd, which would be NFS: U2. Still play the first and the latter regularly, not MC 3 cuz I'm mainly a PC player and I couldn't get an emulator properly working.

The tricky mechanic in Payback is more your car is powerful easier it is to drift. I don't know if the UNITE mod changed that.

8:34 Payback isn't a realistic game so why should the drifting be? Imagine if Underground 2 had the drifting from Prostreet, it wouldn't work. The game wasn't designed for it.

"Imo" tho, payback had a great story. It is a bit cringy but i have to say, this is one of the funnest and enjoyable need for speed game. Customization was cool but the performance upgrades was questionable. If you didn't play or have problems finding online speedlists, the upgrades wasn't that much of a problem. Yes, i understand some people do want to max the car out in Outlaw mods with speed, accleration, and boost but i didn't focus on that and raced slower cars for fun. I had replayed the story 3 times and in the 4th replay now. If i had to give a rating for Payback then it would be around 8/10 score.

For some weird reason both the cards and cash are server-side, so even if you delete the save game and start all over again you'll keep your currencies, even though it can bug the game, happened to me on PS4 when I deleted the savegame files lol

So I was able to play the unite mod and honestly while it increases the overall experience of the game, I still cant recommend starting over with the handling physics mod, the game was heavily designed with the brake to drift in mind, and adding its more realistic physics to the game actually doesnt work with how heavy cops are now even strong weight runner cars get spun out and its kinda annoying, the whole spin out mechanic can also be pretty annoying during some of the tricky offroad and race missions. I wouldn't recommend using this, It seems like it would fit more in heat or maybe the new game. Maybe use paybacks vanilla physics and after you beat the game maybe try it out and see work arounds.

I agree, in 2015 the drift handling with the unite mod is actually fun if you don't run into some cops, there was a gymkhana event tha was a nightmare to finish just because there was a forced pursuit and the cops AI is designed with the break to drift in mind so if I had my car with a drift setting I wasn't able to do shit bc it was like trying do drive in butter

I have this mod it's good for handling but the drift physics are a bit slow and the cops are aggressive af 😂 plus one thing I noticed was that on some races particularly time trials, are almost impossible because of the new physics as the cars just aren't as fast

8:40 Yeah but then you go too far the other direction, and you have Carbon, which looks like you're doing 800mph drifting but you're actually doing 140-190mph. Proper drifting mechanics is in RaceDriver: Grid, being EA now has Codemaster, this should be better moving forward with NFS2021...2022...2023 whenever it comes out

It’s kind of implied he likes more realistic physics when they benefit gameplay. It’s satisfying ramming into cops and slamming them into walls, not getting stuck together like magnets, which I don’t think is more realistic. Drifting is more realistic, but it slows the gameplay down and isn’t as fun anymore.

@@LUXSTERIA A lot of drift you see in TVs are usually for show, basically for style points. Drift may be able to corner faster than grip if used properly. Take this with a grain of salt. I used to play touge race a lot on Assetto Corsa.

@@LUXSTERIA Well you see, in the claim he said it's not always that fast, "always" being the keyword here - meaning fast drifting IS quite possible... and since it's a video game, why not go for that faster option instead of slower one? What Kuru said afterwards I do agree on, in games faster drifting really is more fun (and actually harder to pull off and control than slow drifts), so they could have gone for that. Not to mention, the "Drift" physics in this game isn't even real drifting to begin with - more like some weird arcade powerslide. While "drifting" you don't apply any countersteer - at all. In real drifts you're supposed to basically steer *opposite* of the corner (so in a left-hand corner you are actually steering to the right to keep the car in the drift.. in payback you are steering to the left to keep the "drift" alive and prevent your car from stabilizing), extremely counterintuitive if you ask me.. whoever gets used to this kind of "drifting" will struggle a lot in games where it's done properly. So I don't get why they were trying to make something that's broken in the first place "realistic" - like, what's the point when it's not drifting in the first place.. they could have just kept that arcade one in. I'd understand if the game actually had a physics model for proper drifting - then it would make sense.. but this.. I have to side with Kuru on this one.
