Could these k silver potentiometers be installed on the stock alps stick?
@metalplasticelectronics3543 ай бұрын
They are not a good fit, the magnet assemblies are a little loose on the Alps shafts. If you only want to replace the potentiometers take a look at this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rGemcqCAidZ2gJIsi=aImhlzBqsQgD9HrT

How in the world do you recalibrate these I try the holes and I hear no click lol I try to orange joystick works good and then I try these blue one and it suck won't go to center even tho I got it to center when I go up it won't come back perfectly I think it's defected

It is best to use the software to calibrate now. kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZpeuYqaXpdtjj6ssi=Wvl3Z1bWaDqlGp6i I go over the calibration software. To shift the magnet in these, you have to deform the plastic shafts, tedious to say the least.

Hey quick question here. I have replaced the sticks in my two BDM-010 Controllers as well as two 030s of my cousin. We both had bought these orange kind of sticks. And both seem to have very similar if not exactly the same problems. The sticks seem to work fine after calibration at first. But they will start to bug uncontrollably on one or even more axis after a short period of game time (sometimes 10min, sometimes even 45min), this will also happen after some time when the controller is just sitting there turned on while watching YT or Netflix or smth. Sometimes the stick will just output a almost continous 100% on one axis, sometimes it will only give you only reduced output at max. (Like it wont go over 65% on that axis in one or both directions , or similar.) And I really don't know anymore what I can do about that. After having the controllers turned off for a couple hours the'll work fine again for said short period of time. Problem exists with every single of the 6 sticks I had put into my own controllers. Because in my frustration I even tried completely swapping the hall sticks for another pair again which did not fix things. Does anyone know a reason for that? Or maybe a stick from a brand that will work reliably? Cause atleast my own controllers were working fine before. I had just a slight beginning stick drift on one of them and when we fixed my cousins controllers (they were at unusable levels of drifting) and they seemed to be working fine afterwards I said fuck it and decided to swap both my controllers with hall sticks aswell and thought I didn't have to worry about those anymore. Could it be that those Hall-ICs somehow are overheating for some reason? Are there Versions of those sticks that are made for even lower voltage controllers then the 1.8V of the Dualsense?
@jonathanlang971127 күн бұрын
Noteworthy would also be that me and my cousin did not buy the exact same kind of sticks. The orange shell looks the same but the color of the pcb in the little square window in mine is red and in his it is blue.
@metalplasticelectronics35426 күн бұрын
It sounds like a defective Hall sensor but it occurring with all of them is very strange. I would try a hardware reset of the controller first thing. When you installed them, were you possibly in a very high static electric environment? None of the hall sensors I've tested pull enough power to get hot. You could try putting it in the refrigerator for a few minutes when it starts acting up. If it clears up then it is probably a temperature problem.

16:44 Isn't the magnet south and north poles opposite sides? and not "left and right"?
@metalplasticelectronics3548 ай бұрын
I would think the magnet poles are aligned with the axis of movement. That is why I just rotated the magnet 180 degrees. But I've never used a Hall effect sensor in any projects, so I'm not positive.
@jackipiegg8 ай бұрын
@@metalplasticelectronics354 For one, I'm 99.99% sure they don't manufacture magnets that small with "left/right" poles. Could you take a magnet and see if it attracts the same for "left/right" at the same face? If it does, wow, I need one of those. But yes, I'd imagine their custom hall effect sensor works differently from off the shelf parts seeing how the voltage is halved when it gets close. Standard sensors work by having it full tilt when magnets get close. i.e. North = 0V, South = 1.8V unlike this which is 0.9V.
@metalplasticelectronics3548 ай бұрын
When I bring two of the magnets close, they always snap together, smallest face to smallest face. So I’m pretty sure the smallest faces are the poles. But you’ve piqued my interest in the Hall effect sensor magnet interaction. So I may try and do a little video on it.

If you reverse the magnetic field does that usually work. Or is it chip programmed not field dependent? The deadspot centering is on a central friction cylinder hub on some, not a magnet slider. As for the voltage I'm wondering if you can actually use any of the available hall sticks from DS4 or Dualsense as long as you flip the required magnet then can program the pre set voltage parameter, while it's all together in your latest vid. That might be a detection problem for the pad hardware before we could even get that far with it. I'll have to watch your last 3 vids on halls to un blow 🤯 my 🧠 logic. On your findings.

@@metalplasticelectronics354 Wow I've just watched your latest 3 videos again to see what you have discovered. So the blue K-silvers you have there have zero magnet axis rotation adjustment 😭 for the centering 🎯 just deformation twisting the plastic but still has the pin holes 🕳️ 🤤🫣. W⚓'s they are lol. Maybe they decided it's not needed with the right program or they are copies made simpler 🤷🏼♂️. Who knows the market ☯️ decisions to confuse us all on purpose 😉, but we collectively got there in the end 👍🏼. The chip orientation & magnet 🧲 fitted pole 🧭 position decides the axis digital workings - / + or + / - across all brands that are all different 🤦🏼♂️, some with L/R colour coding & lettering but if you can flip the magnet you can change it anyway 💪🏼. Lastly the voltage ⚡ parameter is that just chip saved pre programmed per intended console pad 🎮. And that can be altered also it would seem if I'm following the working logic? Yes in the K-Silver Hall joysticks the blue magnet holder has the correct magnet orientation. The magnet must be rotated 180 degrees in the white magnet holder to work in the DualSense controller. With the calibration software adjusting the magnet is not as important now but it can still have some effect on the circularity of the joystick.

The reason your stick was registering the opposite values is due to a recent quality control issue at K-Silver. I received a batch of 20 where the magnet had been installed incorrectly during manufacture. The magnet was reversed and this inverted left/right. It's fixable by removing the magnet, rotating it 180° and replacing it. Oops: i hadn't watched the whole video before posting this 😅

Maybe just by leaving the joysticks as they are but reversing the wiring on the controller you'll get the desired effect, i think that by cutting two cooper traces and adding two jumper cables on each analog you can get both to work as intended
