Well saved, if hardened thermal paste on the heat sink is soaked with IPA., and left for a while then it will soften and be easier to remove. The HP ProBook 6560b and 6570b are well designed for maintenance, there are two slides on the bottom, one of which releases the battery and the other releases the bottom cover and then everything is accessible.

I believe quite a few of the 2009 - 2013 had the similar issues as the Macbooks of the time being their GPUs cook themselves to death and I believe Sony disabled booting with integrated graphics if I remember correctly. I like Sony Vaio laptops until I realize they are Sony Vaios. That doesn't mean I will not pick one of the better models if given a choice though I want too pick one up and install Linux on it for some reason. Glad you got yours running and it works.

Nice rescue. I think we've all been there for forgetting a cable. I wonder if it was in fast boot(quick boot, whatever Sony call it) if it would have halted on a system error for fan failure. I do like that colour though, bit of T-Cut will bring that up lovely lol

I had a choice between saving a Sony Vaio Windows 8 or a Dell Vista (I think.) I knew the Sony booted and the Dell needed a power button so I chose the Sony. I chose... poorly. I could have repaired the Dell because they're built for it. Sony deleted all of the downloads and info for their old laptops. I tried to hack the BIOS to try and get features or upgrades unlocked, but it eventually failed to boot so I removed the SSD I had installed Win 11 on, and recycled the rest of it. I wouldn't give you £1 for a lot of ten Sony laptops 😁

@@cageliner yeah I think Dell are my preference, and I'm lucky this one worked because parts are less common

@@Hadisabetghadam I've put 4GB in (total) it didn't seem happy with 8GB for some reason. It's now got an SSD... Another video on this one is coming :)
