I love the way you take toys most collectors would walk by and fix them, I remember having a hoth rebel commander with a broken head and I just glued his head back on, a quick fix for a child. the bonus of having a biker scout with removable helmet, head, is the ewoks can now play their helmets like the end of return of the jedi. great video, always enjoy watching them.

Quick tip: Lego (from my personal collection) denotes the amount of friction on these half-axle-half-pin pieces via color. Yellow/flesh is the loosest of the bunch, gray is somewhere in the middle, and blue has the highest amount of friction.
@toypolloi
@toypolloi 8 жыл бұрын
That is very useful thanks. I only chose grey as I thought it would be hardest to spot.

Hello. For the LEGO “pin” they make a blue friction pin. So his head would spin closer to original. And instead of the white brick. LEGO makes a piece just like that. Part number 18654 “ round 1L.”

Thanks for the tip. I'll check those out. I only went for these as they would easily be hidden in the colours they come in.

Really late for the party here however this was a fantastic repair/restore. Reading the comments, did you ever get around to interchangeable heads, I was thinking the rather large vintage Han Solo head could work drilled as an unmasked trooper (with a possible repainted hair colour). Again, really enjoyed this and the channel 👏🏼

This was one of the first toypolloi videos I ever watched, possibly the first. It inspired me to start collecting these figures again as I was seeing them regularly at a local flea market but always passing them by. Not only did you inspire me to collect but also inspired my channel. Thank you Dave.

Lego makes a "18654 Technic Pin Connector Round 1L [Beam]" that is just the hole; might save some effort. rebrickable.com/parts/18654 LDD describes the Technic hole as ø4,85 (Sometimes ø4,8 to ø4,9), but I haven't checked any of these dimensions.

Is that the only way to restore a figure? I am not big on wanting to paint vintage figures. Are there times the you have a good torso and bad arms, legs, head as well as a figure with good arms, legs, head and bad torso? Is there a way to swap out the good extremities to go on the good torso? I has seen a your video on popping off heads by soaking in hot water? What about the arms and legs?
