The boys won't have any trouble with pulling those two wagons as long as you have decided it's safe to do so. I have watched you enough to know you are very cautious about what you ask your teams to do. So the fact that you are willing to try is all I need to say, no problem, those big percherons are up to the task and in fact, will enjoy the challenge. That is who they are and they are probably as proud of their effort as you are of them. After all it is in their genetics to work and pull. I love to watch these big fellas work. ✌🙏🏼❤🖖

@@WorkingHorsesWithJim Jim, I got to say that I am constantly impressed with your farming, horsemanship and your accomplishments. My Papere (Grandfather) just a short drive and a border north of you worked horses on his farm until 1960 (never owned a tractor) At which point he retired and moved into the city (population 3500). He sold the farm to his Son, my uncle Ronald. Which is now a GMO cash crop operation. (Sad) I've always liked horses, farming and can only imagine what it was like to farm with horses vice tractors. I spent a life serving my country in the Royal Canadian Navy and at 40 am in a position to retire, buy land and start farming. That is our intention atleast to begin a homestead first. You have opened my eyes to that wonder of working a farm with horses and for that, I appreciate you, your family and your beautiful horses. In a way, you bring back fond memories I have of my grandfather. These memories inspire me to make the move into farming and to that would want to do it with horses myself.

You're hoping they will go into the woods if they take off! I think they still know which way is home!!Yes they can!! stopped @ 7:11! They crack me up, almost a trot! I'm sure if they couldn't, you know enough to stop them! They're going to think you lost one! When we were kids, we use to wrap baling twine around the rear tire to act as chains! We did all kinds of weird things!

Hi Jim, I think they can pull it. Coming up onto the road may require a bit of a grunt, and pulling up the hill to the farm they will be working, but I think they will enjoy the challenge. Ok, back to the video. :-)
@WorkingHorsesWithJim2 жыл бұрын
Yes, it was too long of a hill since there was not place for them to stop and rest.
@johnkomosa40892 жыл бұрын
Ok,, also, I was thinking if you get 2/3rds up the hill to a steeper spot, then for some reason, that double goes back, that could get hairy. Some Folks do not understand the physics. In Alaska, sometimes a gradual Mountain more dangerous than the obvious cliff, because, you do not see the danger, also avalanches, which are this time of the yr., are like that, the slope seems safe but it is not! Beware the gradual slope. Thanks Jim, for setting me straight. Ah ha.😄 Your like my 6th Older Brother.. I am 8 of 10. Salute.

@terrywereb76392 жыл бұрын
It's called training, desensitizing, socializing. There is a video of a Budwieser Clydesdale team in a small arena that had a potentially horrendous accident. The way the horses reacted shows what so many people with draft horses figure out early....trust goes very far! Lots of early, gentle handling.
