Cuba had the fourth set, but choked. Cuba needs to learn sideout in a crucial moment, they had 2 or 3 point lead at multiple times. You can't mess up such chances. That's the difference between a good team and an elite team.

Exactly. They just kept hitting hard and kept getting blocked by the Canadian wall. Looking for sideouts was important rather than hitting straight into huge blocks.

Lopez needs to take a page from Ishikawa's playbook. Attacking isn't just about power. Given his height disadvantage, he should focus more on strategies like touch-outs and tipping. It's about playing smarter, not harder.

I dont think they understimated Canada. Most of them are playing in Europe esp in the Italian League, same with the Cubans. And in many ocassions that they played against each other, they knew that Canada has full of talented players. It is just Cuba’s problem has been its consistency.

Cuba has been making some noise lately but Canada made them look ordinary and was in control the entire match. The Canadian team is much deeper in the middle now with the addition of McCarthy and I'm so glad Van Berkel is back in the rotation in the middle instead of Demyanenko. We have huge front court now which is what it should be. Both the Canadian men and women teams have been steadily improving and are climbing up the world rankings. Here's hoping the womens will make Paris. Go Canada Go!!

Cuba, ausencia de muchas cosas. Canadá hizo buen bloqueo, en estas ocaciones muchos equipos "atacan" en línea con block out, last touch o pequeñas fintas, vi poco ese side out y el resto iban cruzado y/o para el bloqueador central regalando +bloqueos. Mucho cruzado, pero la recepción fue mala en momentos cruciales cuando tuvisteis el momento. Igualmente, siempre es bueno ver que hay oportunidad incluso con Masso, Sánchez y Alonso (esta vez) en juego. Mejora tu bloqueo, recepción y saque para presionar al otro equipo, mantente calmado y a darle, ánimo CUBA 🇨🇺 !

Este es el resultado de tener al mejor bloqueador del mundo y no ponerlo a jugar, ahora seguro Simón estaba lesionado como siempre, es así justificaciones una tras otra, se perdió contra Canadá por mala decisión técnica, los jugadores de cambio están para momentos específicos, no era el momento de no poner a una de tus mejores cartas, lo peor y lo sabe el pueblo de Cuba que tiene los atletas son los entrenadores, una vez mas queda demostrado, el objetivo es la clasificacion olímpica, se va de las manos por que con Canadá era un momento de asegurar, ademas que se ve un equipo cansado. Nada que sea lo que dios quiera, esperemos que puedan aunque sea estar en los juegos olímpicos pq de no lograrse, mas de uno de este equipo no va a esperar proximo ciclo olímpico.

you are definitely not someone who has played volleyball consistently. When you are shorter you have huge advantages over taller players-you are faster and sometimes more athletic, you are not as heavy as someone +30 centimeters taller than you and you can accelerate faster towards the ball which adds to your vertical jump a lot. So that being said, if japan's players were taller they would jump and play just as good as these guys here

Thats just not how physics work. If the Japanese were taller, they would become slower just like the other teams. The Japanese playstyle favors their physicalities. They are smaller, therefore they are quicker. They jump higher because they are lighter.

The Japanese you are talking about did not win any medal in the VNL until 2023. And besides, they only won because the players of the countries they fought is not their first six. Take note.
