Hi Adam love the channel, my dad taught me an old trick just using a cigarette lighter to burn the oil off the spark plugs might be easier than the oven and less chance of getting into trouble with her indoors.. Cheers.

Hi adam, great vids as always 😀, i have a triumph TR6 with a cosworth YB engine fitted. Great car and great storey behind it. It was built by the late Terry Drury of TDR essex in the early 90’s. Just over 300bhp. Would you be interested in doing a video? I havnt got instagram which is why im messaging on here. Keep up the good work 👍👍

I have what may be considered an unorthodox way of repairing things like your broken key. I use it on glasses frames and I even put back the broken piece of the honeycomb grille on my Mini the same way. I drill a 2mm hole either side of the break, then I use a fine sewing needle and nylon button thread to essentially "sew" the two edges together. Once there are half a dozen or so passes over the break I knot it off then cover the thread in superglue. Its strong and other areas normally break again before the repair does! 😀
@CYMRU6193 жыл бұрын
I bet a tune and some new plugs would stop it happening again. The fuelling is probably off (too rich at top end?) and fouling the plugs.
@paulforrester40573 жыл бұрын
Running it up in the garage and leaving it too idle is probably fouling them up. Your right a new set and tune up will probably help

Great video Adam what ive seen on youtube was a guy using a gas blow tourch he heats the plugs up to red hot then let then cool down and something i used to do all the time was to wire brush my plugs which apparently is very bad for them as it leaves deposits on the plugs plus using a blow lamp means your next roast dinner wont taste of WD40 lol love your videos mate your a top bloke that cossie is lush all the best mate
@redsidebiker3 жыл бұрын
Adam, the trick with the plugs is to use a decent blow torch, you can direct the heat better and you don't overheat the plugs (so its quicker and easier on your kitchen). Also check your dizzy if its been stood since last year, and the wastegate. Just my opinion.
@busydoingstuff21553 жыл бұрын
Drill a small hole in the plastic part of your key to thread the metal ring through. I always have same issue with glazed plugs as well. Used to take plugs out or have a spare set ready to go in those cases. Would media blast the tips usually.

Back in the 90s I had a cosworth and it had a bad misfire out of the blue. I contacted Mark shead as we didn't have Internet back then. He said check the ht lead isn't close to the map sensor. Couldn't believe it was the fix. So I routed the ht lead as far as I could away from it and problem gone.
@havingalook.3 жыл бұрын
The ht leads go down the middle hole of the inlet manifold, the map sensor is on the inner wing, also map sensor is vacuum fed?

Gorrila glue will sort it. i just use super glue for stuff like it just fit a tiny bit in the crack then paint a thin layer around the crack with a steady hand or vice its not bad but can make the key look messy maybe a dot of silicone on a tooth pick apart from that im out of ideas just hold it down for a few seconds with the glue

I know lots of people do it but wire brushes & spark plugs are a complete no-no (leaving scratches with potential conductive contaminants is a bad idea for something attempting to insulate several hundreds of thousands volts & yes there are loads of people who have never had an issue but it is still bad practice). I'd also question soaking them in WD too. I guess the actual benefit you're getting is allowing residual moisture in the plug leads & insulators to dry out. Starting it & only letting it run for a few mins doesn't help with fouling of plugs or moisture build up, If you're going to run it then get it properly hot or don't bother as you'll do more harm than good. As many others have said just replace the plugs!
