So glad things worked out! You found someone who has personal experience with Raptor springs and knows what springs are needed for your payload. That alone is worth a lot. Very fortunate that you were with helpful friends as well!

Jason, from "Primal Outdoors" had a set made for his 4x4 Ford Van about 8 months ago and he likes them a lot. Cheers, Mate.

I've heard of this guy and his shop working with other people and he's always been a great help. He does nice work. Things could have turned out badly on the White Rim but really everything turned out pretty great.

Hard not to like that spring guy! What a champ. And yeah, as a Power Wagon guy, I have to agree that the Raptor is 10lbs of poop in a 5lb bag! LOL Just kidding. Good episode, Mike!

Shops like Lou's Alcan Spring are a dying breed anymore. So good to see there's still places like Lou's around. So glad you were able to find some Help Mike. Good thing you went with that AH Hell Michael Gut Feeling & didn't go up that staircase. So another Words ""Do NOT"" jump truck means, DON'T Follow Michael till you get your New Springs aye?

I travelled from Edmonton Alberta to have Lou and his team install my pre ordered springs. Fantastic crew! Increased the arch to eliminate the lift blocks and added some capacity to properly match the load and have been thrilled ever since.

Can you comment on the 4K LBS issue a little more? So the rear of the truck weights 4K lbs now with the loaded overland equipment or does the equipment itself weight 4K? Do you know what you starting rear weight was? I would have thought a Raptor payload would handle that, you aren't rock climbing.... Maybe when you have the new springs put in you could have the springs guys expand also. This issue may be wide spread and unknown of in the community of folks using pickups for overlanding. The raptor is thought of as a baja style truck , I didn't know you could lose capability due to a load that was within payload spec..

Well, I sort of "rock climb." :) That said; I plan to talk about this specific issue and clarify some items in an upcoming video. The short version is, contrary to what some may believe, the Raptor is NOT designed to carry weight. It's a 1/2 ton light weight truck made to jump. It does that well. Which makes it a tremendously capable "off-road" vehicle. However, adding the weight causes problems; obviously. :) Stay tuned and I'll go through the numbers and such in an upcoming video.

@@SocialPants Thanks, thing it would be a great information vid on this issue. I see lots of pickups out on trails and now after seeing this have questions on that.

so you've got 4k lbs on the ass end. did you order springs to handle 4k, or did you go over-size just in case?

So I’m not here to rub salt into your wounds, but the price of all this fix is doing that for me. There is no perfect vehicle out there to do what we do, even a Mercedes Unimog will break down. But you have to find the line between cost & repairs and the cost of get you outside and then back home again.

Agree-- everything breaks under the right conditions. In this case; the cost of repair was extremely reasonable compared to other options on the market.
