Great vid! Nice to know in case I ever have the same issue. I had the same issue with my eyes at the end of last year so I booked an optometrist appointment thinking there was something wrong... Doctor said, "nothing wrong, you're just getting old!" Not what I wanted to hear! 73 de VA3DVY

My MH-31A8J met the same problem, the coil was broken and I do not know the exact reason. Maybe it is because drop down times. Thanks for your excellent video!

Great video ( as usual) I would have trashed the mic, but really would rethink it now. I have a 891 as well, I was surprised that you could not get a OEM part to replace

I didn't try to get an OEM part...I just used stuff I had on hand because I'm cheap and lazy

Picked up a used Radio Shack mic for one of their old CBs. Doesn't work. But now i know i can check the element very simply. Then the audio li e to the plug.

Excellent video Rob :) also nice repair on microphone and did suoer job fixing up. I have done my share fix microphone with parts to and did before and it surprises you I did to! Lots fun too and Lol to also use metal screens to! My Yeasu FT 1500 M radio microphone had microphone element broke down I put cellphone microphone so installed it and found cellphone fix up made sharper sound plus clear sound to! Sound like power microphone but not only stock ! Yes extra parts come handy and it surprises me to!

If you fix the gain issue it may fix the rf.

It would be interesting to have tried the other mic when the RF issue came up. I think I would try and see if you can duplicate it again and then trouble shoot from there. Thanks for the video! 73

I forgot to mention I switched to the other mic when the rf issue came up and had no issues. Aside from that I haven't done any more troubleshooting yet

is there room inside the case for a small battery arrangement? it might rule out the 5 dirty volts theory.

The condenser mic sounds like you have a high gain distortion pedal on it. The dynamic mic sounds much better, although not nearly as loud.

Sounds to me like the condenser mic is too hot and is overloading a preamp.
