have you tried that other games? im sure you know theyre not turned based rpgs, but theyre still fun as hell. id recommend yakuza 6 for a modern version or isshin if youre into ronins and other meiji era stuff.

It's entirely Andy's fault that I've spent approximately 200+ hours of my life running through the Yakuza/Like A Dragon games 😂😂 I'm midway through 5 now and have already completed 7 (started with that one). It's such a wacky but fun series!

I started with Yakuza Zero and ended up finding it a little repetitive. Are the newer ones a bit more varied? Infinite Wealth definitely looks like good fun!

@@katfromthekong414 There's definitely a bit of repetition, and honestly, I don't know if you'd miss a heap if you just went 0, the remastered 1/2, 7, and then Infinite Wealth - they link but also stand-alone and give flashbacks/info where necessary for the most part. I haven't played any to completion because the collect-a-thons can be a little repetitive, and some of the side stories are annoying or just don't grab my interest. I found 3 and 4 to be the hardest and the biggest slogs because I believe they were remastered using the engine they were on at the time of release whereas 1/2 were remade on the same platform as 0 so it felt like a huge leap backward to go from 2 to 3. That said, I love the humour and the antics, so when those are on full display I love do it regardless of the slog (especially when you hit the 15th random encounter while you're just trying to finish a substory). Mostly I'm enjoying learning the backstory and meeting the other characters I missed before playing 7, particularly Majima and Kiryu. Not sure if I'll play Inshin because from what I understand that's set outside of the main series but I do want to play Gaiden: the man who erased his name before I jump into IW.

From my experience with other long running series that I've started late, I think that probably the newer games will be more varied and balanced. For example the Uncharted series only really found its sweet spot in the last 2 games if you ask me, but I had started with the 2nd game and it was a bit of a slog. I've gone ahead and downloaded IW now, cause it looks like there are a lot of different things to do and if I like it maybe I'll go back to the older games too

Well, Andy (and the video's sponsors) should be pleased to know that his enthusiasm for this series has sold me on it. After ignoring the LAD series from the beginning (because the first game looked to me, at the time, like a Japanese knock-off of GTA or Saints Row), hearing Andy fangirl over the series for so long now and seeing these peeks at the bonkers gameplay has enticed me into purchasing my first LAD game. That being said, ngl, I'm a little turned off by Sega's predatory DLC practices and their putting common, basic features behind a paywall. Fortunately, I don't care about things like NG+ or achievements so I don't feel left out by not paying for the paywalled stuff but I know a lot of other people are angry about it and, as one of the LAD voice actors said recently, it "hurts community goodwill." Also... $158 of day 1 DLC? WTF, Sega? As someone who was excited to finally jump in and try out this series, finding all the price-gouging on the Steam store page really dampened that enthusiasm and has left a bad taste in my mouth regarding the publisher. Hopefully, enough people don't pay the insane prices for "add-ons" that are standard parts of all the previous games (and most other games) because greedy publishers shouldn't be rewarded for their greed. If they succeed with their price-gouging, it'll only guarantee that all the microtransactions and such will get worse and worse in future games and possibly become a standard that other publishers follow even more shamelessly than they already do. Fortunately, there are always places on the internet where such "extras" can be found for free. *cough*Github*cough*. I mean, nobody should do that of course... because it's wrong... but, y'know, if you're somebody who really likes the ng+, achievements, and DLC that costs twice as much as the game... well, I can't stop you. And, for now, neither can Sega.

Being against sponsored content is the smart move. The hard push being made by Sega on this game is to try and draw attention from them paywalling new game+ and making it day 1 dlc, so that this can become something we see in all games soon since its working. Least Andy got paid to pay a franchise he likes, minor upside.

The girl's lines in the dating mini game were Japanese. Just basic phrases, but I wonder why they weren't voiced in English. "Gyaru" culture is a fashion/style thing in Japan, even though it's not as popular as it used to be.
