Maybe place the pins on the roof and sleeves (tube) on the pillars so you have a clean look with the glass installed and roof off? ;-)

Over Centre Latches are handy for a lot of jobs, Heim Joints are aswell, Mical Wolfe used them to Hinge the Hood on her 57 Chev on a Corvette she's building.

I love it . May I suggest the locating pins go "down" into a hole in the post , so they aren't visible when the top is off.

I think the rear window turned out killer! As long as the snaps hold the roof down I think you are golden. I have never had it happen to me, but a couple of the guys in the Corvette club here lost their tops when they weren't latched correctly.

Hey Brent just an idea to make the roof a bit easier to move depending on how much vinyl and padding your gonna put on since the base is steel you could get some magnets with handles to plunk on and give you lift points. Or since you are doing Vinyl you could make a set of black leather handles that can tuck into a pocket above the window inside. and you could also use said handles as tie points when the roof is in the back. Love the look so far!!! Greetings from PA

Man that laser welder has turned out to be one handy tool for ya, and its not a bad looking weld after all for a lap weld, with a lot less grinding. Which saves you a massive amount of time, which means you save money in the long run. I was thinking Brent you need to make it with tabs bent, and the second time you did it, you made it the exact way I was thinking. LOL If you don't make that front lip straight you will surely see it, once the vinyl is on the roof. Cheers btw back window looks great.

Put the pins as part of the top weld bolts to the top as pins and put recessed plates with sleeves on the window posts and center so the bolt heads clear and it sits flush just a thought

Brent, how about adding some 1/4" round rod to the edges? Along the visor and window openings of the top to smooth the transition when you put the vinyl on. And for the locating pins, put the in the posts, then just put tape with the sticky side up to transfer their location to the top.

I see the struggle with meeting a radius window frame into a flat edge roof hole. You always work it out so well! I really like seeing you have worked out your issues with the laser welding. My employer was using laser welding about 10 years ago and it is nice to see that the available systems work so well

Just a thought for locating pins. I you have an old windshield visor with a stainless rod, they are stout and look nice. One rod could do all three pins. The ends can be grounded down to a v- shape for easy locating. The job looks awesome and I'm getting excited to see the end product. Dan. Arizona.

Window looks way better narrowed for sure.love the build.A piece of tubing sealed on bottom for pins to sit in would keep water from leaking into pillars if seal leaks any.water seems to find way.😂

Man, to measure your rear window level, use your inclinometer. They sure are handy and make things a little more easier. The man and his dog sure are the best of friends.

Brent , use some stick on chrome molding for the rear window trim, you can even paint it the same vinyl color

Hi Brent. Looking good. That laser welding thing is a proper godsend IMHO. Looks like, it will need a channel to encapsulate the top of the windscreen and hold your rubber extrusion for a wind seal. So I suppose, is the screen next in line or will you have to give those the curve of the bottom of the screen? Like 'as if ' the screens are in? I like the way laser seals between the tacks of MIG . They are strong enough but that laser welded seam is air tight and so low profile. The joint is very well aligned too, yeah? It would be great to have a roller set for shaping drip rails. You are putting some real construction into the coupling between the roof and cab now. Looking good for the direction it is taking. and the form is basically there now. If you keep a can of black board paint on hand for marking up a man can spray a surface and mark out in wax chalk. Makes the whole image so crisp to the eye.. I like it for sheet metal work at times. mainly on white or zinc plated areas. Exciting build at this point.

Maybe use rivnut inserts to create your mounting pins. That should allow you to create both the bottom holes and the top pins. Just insert the 1/4 x 20 bolts and cut off the heads so the pin is left sticking down and into the opposite hole.

Cut you a pattern out of heavy gauge steel that you can use to form your window edging, you will need to use a torch to reshape it by heating it around the form. You could shape the visor to match the lines of the hood at the cowl.
