I saw a video yesterday where a man covered a pair of Chuck Taylor Converse shoes with leather. They turned out pretty eye catching and looked like boots. Not exactly what you are doing but something to consider.

The boots made out of that rain coat would be amazing! I've got a pair of the sharmans, laced up army style because it's much quicker to tighten and loosen for putting them on, was wondering if you could do speed hooks for the top 2 eyelets?

Never!! put an umbrella up inside. Why? no idea superstitions are strange. The yellow - black works well I would wear them. 2x👍 shame about the wrinkles a leather liner up the ankle might help Back in the late 80s I had a really nice Burberry brolly. (before Chavs were a thing) someone smashed my back window out of my car to steal it. Now that would make some nice shoes.
