I also will fill the flutes on the drill bit with grease to catch the aluminum chips as I drill. Have to clean often if drilling an already-drilled hole or tapping, but a blind hole just needs grease put on for the last little bit.

Get a 10mm thread hex bolt. Drill an exact hole through centre on lathe. Size that matches drill you will use.Screw it into thread and use it for a drill centralizer. Put grease on tap and drill less chance of chip problems.

Quote from Napoleon Hill: "My parents provided food, clothing, and shelter, but they were thrifty by necessity. Often when as a child I’d ask for money, I was told, “Honey, we cannot waste our money. Your poor dad crawls around in the mines.” Often I was told, “Nothing can replace the thrill of knowing you earned your own money.” This made it easy to practice thrift and do some soul-searching before spending money that you earned. Teaching youngsters how to save money is a valuable lesson, even if they do not need the money. Teaching them to appreciate money is a lesson that will markedly last a lifetime and pay bountiful rewards."

Quote from New Life newsletter: Write This Down For which one of you, when he wants to build a watchtower [for his guards], does not first sit down and calculate the cost, to see if he has enough to finish it? Otherwise, when he has laid a foundation and is unable to finish [the building], all who see it will begin to ridicule him, saying, ‘This man began to build and was not able to finish! Luke 14:28-30 When you make a list of things you need to do, you’re much more likely to get them done. When you write down your goals, you’re much more likely to achieve them. When you compile a written list of problems and challenges, they are far more likely to be resolved. When you put something in writing, the very act of doing so produces an undeniable degree of commitment. Writing, whether with a pen, a keyboard or a stylus, is a concrete, physical activity. It is an ideal first step for translating your thoughts into action. It is evidence of your commitment which you can hold in your hands, and which can command your attention until the goal is accomplished. Putting together a list of challenges, goals, or things to do also serves to put you in control. By putting your problems in writing, you assume control over them. By writing down your goals, they move from being things you desire to being things you’re bringing about. What do you need to do? What do you wish to achieve? What problems do you have to solve? Make a list. Write them down and you’ve taken the first important step to getting them done. Father in heaven, thank You for this reminder of the difference writing things down makes. Help us to get in the habit of putting pen to paper. We want to be like the builder, to sit down and count the cost before we begin our day, so we don’t waste the time You have blessed us with. In Jesus name, AMEN! Don’t just think it… ink it!

Quote from New Life newsletter: Better Than You But the boy Samuel continued to grow in stature and in favor both with the Lord and with men. 1 Samuel 2:26 Don’t concern yourself with being better than everyone else. That will mainly get you resentment, disappointment, or both. Focus instead on being better today than you were yesterday, on being even better tomorrow than you are today. When you compare yourself to others, you’ll either end up being disappointed or you’ll end up being arrogant. Instead, compare yourself to yourself. The important thing is to make progress in your own life. Upstaging someone else simply won’t bring you any true gain. Improving yourself will. We all share certain things in common, and yet no two people are the same. There is no one who is better than you. And at the same time, you are better than no one else. You are unique. You are beyond compare. Make the most of it. Make it better and better each day. Stop worrying about everyone else and you’ll free up enormous energy to be the best you can be. Father in heaven, forgive us for comparing ourselves to others, instead of to who we used to be. Help us live like Samuel, growing in stature and favor with both You and others! Thank you for being the greatest example there could be to follow in every step…In Jesus name, AMEN! The only person you should try to be better than is the person you were yesterday.

Quote from New Life newsletter: Keeping Up Appearances Am I now trying to win the favor and approval of men, or of God? Or am I seeking to please someone? If I were still trying to be popular with men, I would not be a bond-servant of Christ. Galatians 1:10 How much more successful would you be if you could free yourself from the need to appear successful? How much more would you enjoy life, if you concerned yourself with truly enjoying it rather than keeping up appearances? How much more work could you get done, if you didn’t have the need to impress anyone? How much more could you learn if you didn’t spend so much energy proving what you know? Say what you mean. Do what you desire. Be who you are. Let others worry about what to think of you. It’s their concern, not yours. Be polite, gracious and respectful to be sure, but don’t let yourself be intimidated by what other people may think. Your time and your energy are too precious for that. Time, money and effort spent in an attempt to impress others will only make you appear more hollow. Rather than trying to look impressive, put your resources into being yourself the best way you know how. Ultimately, that’s what will make a truly great, sincere and lasting impression. Rather than creating an appearance, create true and lasting excellence in your life. That’s a genuine appearance which will outshine all others. Father in heaven, our world is full of “Influencers” and clout chasers seeking to show they have and are “enough”. Help us to see through the posing and posturing and stop trying to please others. Help us to spend our time and money on things that matter for more than a moment. In Jesus name, AMEN! It’s time to stop buying things we can’t afford with money we don’t have to impress people we don’t like.
