Great update. Don't forget to put the electric wiring for the switch into the wall. You can use an angle grinder or put in flexible pvc pipe. It's only a small job. Also, don't forget to wire for electricty before you put in the isolation. Makes it easier.

Don’t know if they have them where you are but rubbish skips are amazing - and a lot quicker than multiple trips to the tip. I would also invest in a wheelbarrow they’re great for carrying stuff, although sadly they don’t go well on stairs 😊

How can all the women in Nikkis family be so beautiful!?! ❤ Radiant warmth eminates from both of her sisters and her mum. What a lucky guy you are to have such vibrant women around you. Also - the reno progress is exciting. Oh how I loathe wallpaper, I spent hours using a steamer to remove the awful mess from the walls of our house. Each room had a different style/colour of floral wallpaper AND floral curtains. None of it matched, it was a busy, noisy floral mash.😆 oh gosh how home-fashion has changed!

Is there a window that you can throw the bigger stuff out so you don't have to carry it down the stairs? My husband and I gutted a house built in 1922 and did new wiring, pumbing, heating, electrics, roof, windows and sliding. It took us a year but we also worked full time jobs. Twenty years later we still love our house! Love to see what you guys are doing. Brings back many memories!

Ceiling beams can be painted and can make the actual ceiling a different color. Floors are awesome. Last recommendation, put stair railing up so the baby doesn’t fall. Congratulation on the baby. So exciting. Love you guys.

Spackle will be your best friend for covering holes and gouges in the wall. Wallpaper SUCKS to remove. We had 2 layers also. We used a spray called DAP and a scraper after you tear off the large pieces.( or spray water on it and scrape) We call that drywall or sheetrock, although yours looks like mdf board. Nice, you have wood behind there. I kind of love the wood slat look in there. Don't know if it would be too cold to leave it like that. You are lucky there was no mold or leaks behind there. Dodged a bullet on that one. You guys are moving right along. GREAT job!!

There’s a bit you can get for the drill. It’s just for screwing in the Sheetrock panels. It countersinks the screws to exactly the right depth so,it’s easy to mud over them without them sticking out.

If you have more carpet to pull out, use a utility knife to cut it into strips before even pulling it up. That way you can roll it as you pull it up giving you more manageable pieces and saving time and energy.

Great work! Just a note, roof is on top of the house, ceiling is at the top of a room! We have done up a few houses and it’s great. One house uplift we did I was pregnant and still wallpapering at nine months! Was a bit awkward at the corners because I couldn’t move very well. Oh and btw I took a small sampler of the old wallpapers of the house and put everything in a house book.

Where are your goggles eyes are very precious and it only takes one splinter to ruin the day. Nicky that old wallboard all compressed paper from old days when drywall was not invented yet. If you guys want to see how to do drywall you can watch it all on KZbin. Well this experience will give you long lasting memories of you house project. Looking great so far! Can't wait to see how you finish them out. I'm a fan of the ceiling beams, but that my personal taste. If the color is dark you can always white wash them with paint. Or, maybe even use a jigsaw to trim them down flat and paint.

We had similar ceiling beams that could not be removed. We sealed the stained beams so they could be painted. When the beams were painted the same colour as the ceiling, they disappeared visually and the room felt lighter and more spacious

You can cut the carpet down the middle before ripping it up to make it easier and lighter to move. Also, get a big crowbar for removing big slabs of wall. You can put it under it and pull up on it as you pull and it will come off in one sheet or big pieces

Ney Nicky & Leigh ✨ You are making great progress !! ,I just wish I was living near by, because I'd come help you both, then Leigh won't be so outnumbered by the ladies ! I love your drive, energy to do what is very tiring work, but you will get to a plateau and the up hill work will all be behind you. You can do small deconstruction of walls that you can easily repair if you find insulation, improving insulation is always best done sooner than later. Budget wise it's probably more expensive and time consuming to remove the roof tiles/ battens etc and insulation from outside, you'd need scaffolding ££$$ and a roofer $$££. I've been moving partition walls this week at a club I help out at, we have engineering and woodwork shops on a boat yard in Norfolk. We are loosing the engineering space back to the boat yard owners, so we are creating a new space for it. Lots of redesigning plus we have a very lengthy stretch of sloping floor that has to be levelled, new lights and power sockets also needed before we move benches, tools and storage racks.....I'll be thinking of you as we progress. @@NickyandLeigh I totally understand. You two are doing what me and my husband did 35 years ago. To start with our first house was over 100 years old. And we had so many Renovations. And then our second house was also over 100 years old. And required major Renovations. And then this house that we live in now. is 120 year old farmhouse and also required major renovations. I often forgot to take pictures. Before we started on a room we just kept forgetting. it would be like darn it, not again. My advice would be to take lots of pictures beforehand and afterwards. So you can really see all this Sweat Equity that you put into it we had several screamed pictures where was before and after in each room that was fun.
