It's so wild the efforts Apple went to, to make repairing their phones by anyone who isn't a certified technician a complete chore. I'm so glad "Right to Repair," was made a reality recently so hopefully this will be less and less of an issue as time goes on.

They could undo the need for these programmers but you still need one to get True Tone back even after the Right to Repair laws have been made mandatory.

It's sick how Apple serialized most parts including the screen, ,FaceID, vibrator, and even the battery with custom data. It serves no other purpose than making replacement more difficult. There are plenty of other manufactures out there who's phones can be serviced easily without all this craziness. For the average user to get a programmer and a battery contact welder machine, just to replace a friggin' battery, it makes no sense. Even if you're a repair shop, it's just a waste of time for something that's not necessary. smh

1. Either has a wrist strap higher on his wrist. On his ankle... Or he doesn't have one. It takes a lot of static to cause damage to a board. I dont wear anything when Im working on my own stuff. Customers are a different thing, but I dont wear anything when Im at home. 2. Reviews are your best bet likely. Make sure they get good reviews and arent bombed, go with bigger names.

A good guide but I think you should Include some more information because this Video might be confusing for some People. At this time for iPhone XS and higher you cant restore this function If you dont have orginal oem speaker module with sensors. Same rule applies also for iPhone 8 and X but in this case even if flex had been changed you can still restore it with DCSD alex cable and Purple mode.

The company that did first screen replacement were hacks and didn't the time to do it right. now the original screen is long gone. 12 different repair shops and not one knows how to do this... so sad...

I also use this for 2 months there are so much phones that have this problem BUT : you will need the original proximity/earspeakerflex for this to work if the proximity every breaks and you need to change it truetone will also disapear

I have an iPhone X, I dropped my phone in April and my screen completely bugged out and had veritcal lines all over it so I had to get it repaired. I got it done really cheap and they threw an LCD screen on, i instantly could tell the quality different and battery difference. OLED reduces battery consumption by not using black pixels, and the colours are far brighter than LCD. I don’t know the difference between soft and hard oled but I would defo say oled over lcd anyday

To avoid the headache of returns and complaints I would go with soft oled, the hard oled can be easily broken internally while the front glass can still be intact.

Honestly if it’s an xs max, go to eBay and get an “oem refurbished” screen for $80. Otherwise do a “glass only repair” if your actual lcd isn’t damaged (saves your existing True Tone and for the average price of $80-100 it’s worth it) Last case scenario soft oled. Never do hard oled, it breaks like nothing imaginable (unless you’re using it as a trade in device, but at that point, just go super cheap with lcd). Honestly zy incell is a better lcd than any hard oled durability wise. So if you’re going to go half ass and don’t care for quality, go all in on being cheap. Otherwise just get an oem refurb, or glass only swap, for the same price as soft oled.
