Easy trick for blown out hatch struts instead of wood. Use a pair of vice grips on the silver shaft of the strut. Lift it all the way up and clamp them on. Less dangerous than a piece of wood and one less thing to walk around.

Thats how i do all my installs. Dont use any of the factory stuff. Completely rewire it myself. Then when i sell the car i can remove all my good stuff, put it back to stock easily

Like how you are stripping everything out. I'd definitely be replacing the fuel pump on it so it won't go out while the box is in. It would be a name brand fuel pump. I need to strip my truck down myself and put some kind of sound deadener on it to keep the roof from flexing so bad. Was looking at vibraflex and resonix

I would convert it to an inline pump on the frame rail. Ones from 90s Ford would work. Used one on my 98 k1500 plenty of fuel for that 350 vortec :) only did that because I was/am poor though
