Pretty amazing you got them both back up and running, wow, nice work!! The blue one looks a bit smaller then the other one. At the time mark 11mins, you cranked those plugs down extra tight!! Snug them then 1/4 turn at the most. It seemed you went 1/2 a turn...just a point. Use "Seafoam" next time you are doing an engine flush. Stuff works wonders, can mix it right with the oil. I would mix some 2 stroke oil too for the first tank of fuel in the one you rebuilt for the break in period. Great videos, enjoyed them. I just trash picked a three year old push mower the other day, and I changed the oil in it this morning. There were some metal shavings in the oil. The carb is junk, but the engine runs well, so I'm thinking it was still the original oil. The engine runs too well to have any serious internal issues. You probably ran into the same thing. With these being used only periodically in addition to the difficulty in changing the oil on them, I would be willing to bet money that the oil has never been changed in these machines.

That's interesting that Sea Doo would use plastic for the base of the fuel filter housing. Given that plastic is made from petroleum distillates, it will naturally break down if consistently exposed to any other petroleum based substance. Therefore, it is impossible for a plastic item that stays consistently immersed in gasoline to survive for any extended period of time. It is the same reason that fuel lines have the teflon layer on the inside of them, and even that will eventually break down. They would have to be aware of that. It's a curious design decision. I'm amazed that it made it as long as it did.
