I’m beginning to like this new dawn in Spurs basketball, where our worst problem is at backup center. Collins is slowing falling out of the rotation. He tries, I like him, he’s a great passer. They’re giving him less minutes as the season goes on. Just a matter of time. Also, I think one of our FRPs will go for a Center next year. So, no matter what, an upgrade is imminent anyway.

Kai works well on a Triangle offense. Watch his FIBA games, he is a lot better on that system than Japan's b league. He won't be effective on a G league team where everyone is trying to get their shot than have the team win.

I really don't like Zach Collins, but he's better than Kai Sotto. The difference between the B.league and NBA is just that big. We'd be better suited making moves for players like Kessler, Claxton, or Peoltl.

How can you get rid of a player with 2 years 35M$ remaining contract ? First, with the new CBA and the fear of the 2nd apron, no team like to add players with more than 15M$, especially if this player doesn't bring any additional value to the roster. Some teams will just refuse to include Zach in the trade. Second, even if a team accept to trade for Zach Collins, they won't be able to waive him as the 35M$ are garanteed (dead money counts in the cap and the luxury tax calculations). The only way the Spurs could add Zach Collins in a trade would be if they build a trade of an all-star player with some of their first picks. The Zach Collins' contract could be used to match the wages. But to be realistic, Zach Collins should unfortunatelly stay in the Spurs' roster until the end of his contract (june 2026). However, even if paid 18M$ next year, the Spurs should let him on the bench as he doesn't bring any positive value to the roster. His defense is very weak and his offensive efficiency is not good. His playing time costs to the Spurs !! This summer, the Spurs will draft at least twice. Would it be possible to draft a backup center ? Kaman Maluach (from Duke) should be selected too high. But perhaps Derick Queen (from Maryland) could be available. It is a shame that the Spurs didn't manage to sign Gershon Yabusele this summer. Only 2M$ per season, he is playing very well for the Sixers and could have been starter PF (when Sochan is not present) or PF/Center in the second unit. By the way, improving the frontcourt will be the major challenge of the Spurs' organization this summer. It is mandatory if they want to become a playoff team.

Kai Sotto isn't him. He's playing against rec league talent and will never make it to a G league team, much less the NBA. Sorry to bust your bubble TSR and Soto fans. It is what it is. As far as Zach Collins goes. Guy is a thief and is fleecing the Spurs out of 17.5 million. He doesn't even deserve to be on a G league team with the absolutely abysmal void contributions on court. We need to get him gone ASAP. I will be sick to my stomach if he's a Spur next season.
