Right but what's the connection? They don't sound the same. Matt's just singing HCB to the TBM tune. I do that with like three different Christmas songs. (Away in a manger, Hark the herald angels sing and Noel, and none of them sounds remotely alike.) HCB goes down before going up again (or maybe sideways but definitely not down) and is higher pitched, TBM is just down and is a lower pitched song that climbs up one bit before it gets to the farmer's wife section. Or maybe I heard weird British versions as a child and I know nothing about the American renditions of nursery rhymes. I'll have to ask my American friends.

Edit: Just got to the point where they figure this out.... For solving the Hot Cross Buns code (ECDC): The song uses 3 keys on the piano which are C, D, E. I am assuming when Ash looked it up, they saw the recorder sheet music which is the notes B, A, G. The section of the song that plays in the room is just a short snippet. We are supposed to count how many E, D, and C notes are played. There are 3 Es, 7 Cs, and 7 Ds so the code is 3777. A lot of the codes in this game are like that.

50:55 I figured out the code. If the letter is an odd letter (A=1, C=3 etc.) you shift it up. If it is even, you shift it down. The tape translates to “Olivia” (as expected) and the sign translates to “Where we lie” 59:17 says “Devlog Random” 1:04:27 says “Devlog Mark” 1:08:43 says “Devlog Progress” The screen at 1:17:15 and the tape at 1:21:07 do NOT seem to follow this code @mintylettuce also figured it out before me but I hadn’t seen their comment

Was anyone else surprised Mat didn't catch onto the fact that the colors on the computer screen were the same colors mentioned in the tutorial page? And that the colors have designated numbers associated. That would probably solve the final puzzle code to open the gate control.

First off, I want to say thanks to Ash for all the hard work they put in to this video. They went above and beyond when it came to helping solve these puzzles. I know in the moment they seemed frustrated, but I hope in retrospect they feel accomplished over that. It made for really good content. Probably some of the best on GT live in a while. I can't speak for others, but I've really been enjoying watching deliberate and work their way through these puzzles together. I look forward to the next part of the series and I hope we don't have to wait too long for it.

If anyone is curious the third guy(ingame I think he's nameless or called the Vandal but his name is JD) on the obelisks is a character available if you finish Stumbler's mini game & return to town hall. He gives a mini game to get a special end but getting it will be a pain in the neck due to timing.(It's worth it if you want to feel good about helping the NPCs) I hope whoever is taking over after Mat brings him on if Shipwrecked 64 gets continued since the most recent video is Matpat finally retiring & this game isn't finished.

Honestly the reason i like watching matpat playbthis type of game os because its nice to see a letsplayer actively overthinking and theorizing. I would watch so many multi hour long episodes of this jist to see him complete it

I love how mattpat gas lite himself and anyone else thinking of the tune as "Three Blind Mice" and instead corrected himself with "Hot Cross Buns"... They are both the same melody 🤣 I had to make sure cause I also go to "Three Blind Mice" first (I think it's more fun to sing haha) but he made me doubt my self. Thank you google for saving my sanity!

I heard three blind mice, I know them as different songs that don't sound the same at all, I'm not sure where everybody is getting the buns from. Am I just being a Brit who doesn't know the American rendition? Why would you guys have a different version? XD

​@@Roadent1241they are different after the first 2 lines. 3 blind mice goes up and says "see how they run", with "see" and "how" holding for 2 beats and "they run" being only 2 beats (6 total). hot cross buns stays with the same note and goes "1 a penny, 2 a penny" with "1 a penny" & and "2 a penny" being 4 beats each (8 total).

Do I have to put up a video of myself singing these two songs because I've never heard them the same like people are claiming here or just get used to the idea that Americans are taught these songs differently?
