Please take your campaign to a higher level. You be the heroes. Mayapur/Navadvip and surrounding rural areas need an effective urban civil government, like in Germany. Otherwise the problem of growth with modern way of life, waste and garbage will accelerate. India and especially Bengal have chronic problem of lazy, inept and corrupt politicians and officials. ISKCON and its growing ranks of wealthy and influential Indian devotees should take initiative. Even international devotees should get involved with local and national politics. Fortunately, Modi and BJP are naturally very friendly towards ISKCON.

Unfortunately many aspiring devotees are not at all mindful of Our Lordships beautiful nature. Even devotee tenants, we have had over the years, have thrown compost, in plastic bags, in our recycle bin, after being requested to put compost anywhere on the property. drop it off the balcony into the gardens to make it easy, because it broke down so fast. Or they could take a short walk to the food forest and throw the compost under the banana trees, etc on our acres of land. This is something our leaders need to address, loudly, otherwise we are just fighting an uphill battle. When we say that Srila Prabhupada built a house the whole world could live in, there is no doubt that, he never intended for it to be surrounded by garbage. We visited Mayapur this March and I’m really glad you’re bringing this very important topic of garbage all around the streets in Mayapur. Burning garbage is usually very toxic. This needs a massive strategic garbage segregation effort…why doesn’t ISKCON as an institution step up in the cleanup effort of Mayapur. Actually Vrindavan has become even worst now….all religious institutions (with the millions of $$ donation) receive should step up in clean up of these holy cities. Sadly local municipalities continue to be corrupt and poorly funded HARE KRISHNA 🙏

Govardhan Ecovillage has a great model for recycling and waste management that involve the community. Unfortunately this garbage and waste issue is everywhere in India not only Mayapur. Still sense of belonging for the area they live is not there in Indians because of hundreds of years of war,changing of places to live,changing circumstances because of invasion and colonial experiences. This is a mentality problem,apart from South India almost everywhere the same problem in India. Sometimes really feels ashamed and sad to see the condition of my motherland. Sri Satya's Sai's organization in Puttaparthi (Andhra Pradesh) has initiated a clean town program in that holy Tirtha. The streets are clean and no meat can be sold in the town and its radius. ISCKON can look at the sanitation model there

Local government should ban plastic in general and pet bottles in particular in Mayapur. At least Iskcon & other Gaudiya Math sister organizations should come forward for the sake of the Holy Dham. The cold drinks bottles are unnecessary. If cold drinks has to be sold may they be sold exclusively in glass bottles as they used to be.

Govt needs to award a huge contract to this lady Murari Mohini's organization, with that money she will cleanup the city. Lot of money to be made in garbage recycling when done properly. Use plates, bags, etc made from compostable materials the way it used to be. Don't eat chips and throw the bag away, chips are harmful to the body and bags harmful to the environment.

The only solution is just remove trashbins out of sight.People just throw the trash 🗑️ around the bins when they see them but not into the bins.😢 But collect trash from door to door.This system in India has become successful in many cities. Hope the admin dept implements this kind of system.
