I went to a tournament recently with both types of heavy weapon teams on their separate bases and the organiser said it was fine, so I guess it can’t hurt to ask. I also followed your painting tutorial and got loads of nice comments about how they looked, so keep up the good work! 😊👍🏻

WOW, I am SO glad I saw this video. I have an old (and as yet unassembled) box of RT Squats I was going to do up into heavy weapons teams and was about to print off a bunch of 60mm bases for them.

Use them on the old bases. Not rebasing anything with my diorama bases. Going to keep using them, even in tournaments.

Bugger I hadn't realised they rebased the weapons team! Probably a good idea if you play a lot as the bases were very big BUT I don't play much and havne't used my guard in ages. Good to know rebasing can work if I need to in the future.

Absolutely beautiful. Def rebase to the smaller bases and upgrade as possible. Not only does it give you more space in deployment, it gives you less area for area of effect weapons (especially grenades, and it gives you less area for base-to-base contact. The other thing is that there will **always** be some twit who has to complain if they aren't up to current standards. (Personally, I'd get the power pack on there, but that's just a personal thing, so ignore that as you see fit.)

Here I was in the middle of using an old sentinel base to make a spare mortar only to find out that the bases were changed Glad to hear I can still use it though as I don't really have the money to rebase all my models, still got two command squads and a commissar on old bases

It just a better fit I feel. There bases were 60mm for Like 15 points worth of model.

as always great video, :-D I would just cut the powerpack cord just under the band holding the wires together, and then rotate 180 deg under the weapon as you now dont have a tripod.

Ace work as always, Andy! As to rebasing, new models vs old, etc., ... I stand by GeeDubs policy, paraphrasing - "If it is a Games Workshop kit, it can be played. And they can be based on what was supplied when purchased." I have a collection stretching back to 1987, I'm not going to purchase a new plastic when the old metal works just as well to represent the unit on the table. And if it came on a rectangular slotta base, that's what I'm fielding (ie: Cadian Heavy Weapons teams). I'm not playing in any official or sponsored tournaments, so it just doesn't matter to my play club. _BUT_ if I'm adding to an army in sufficient numbers, I would upgrade the bases just for consistency across the appearance (looking at you, Dark Angels on 32s now...).

Great paint job as usual Andy. The old Cadian heads look much bigger than the newer shock troopers- could you do a head swap and put a new head on an old torso to make them fit in more to your new Cadian shock troopers??

Good job! I stocked up on the old models because they look kinda cute and I'm still not 100% sure how to put the HWTs on the 50 mm bases which ackchyually only have an inner diameter of about 47 mm compared to the old ca. 62 mm. How would it look if you put an old gunner behind a new weapon? Will it work without conversion?

All models are fine for tournament play, you just need typically need to have them on the right base size
