Precision Farming should say good or bad or somewhere between after you have drilled a crop. Its not saying it on the first field you drilled because it basically doesnt know how much to put down. Each crop type needs a different amount. So you need to drill the field then put the slurry on to get the true amount on in 1 pass. Also that spreader had an additional option called John Deer Manure Sensing which was not opted for when leasing that I could tell... I have never used that specific model so dont know what that sensor does, but I presume it helps sense how much to put down.

In regards to your question about the dribble bars on the slurry spreader, doing it like that instead of just spreading it on the surface does keep most of the smell down, but it also makes the amount of slurry go farther without so much waste. Around me the most common thing is "knifing it in". Trailers truck slurry to a big mother tank on the side of the field and theres a huge pump that pumps the slurry out of the tank to a tractor in the field through a very long, large hose that looks like fire hose.The tractor drags the hose through the field as it goes, with another tractor pushing the hose around so it doesnt get in the way. The hose connects to a small cultivator on the back of the tractor and it sprays the slurry into the ground as the cultivator opens in up. Once theyre done in the field you can hardly smell a thing.

Isn't it illegal (or soon to be) to surface spread slurry in Europe now? I thought that was why Tom Pemberton added a dribble bar to his.

@@neilharbott8394 Yes, it's to prevent emission of ammonia into the air. There are some exceptions for certain soil types where you can still use water diluting systems. In my country these rules have been in place since 2019.

Daggerwin the nitrogen says good or bad when you have the crop in the ground bc if you have something like soybeans then you don’t need that much nitrogen but if it’s wheat you need more nitrogen so the amount you put in says it’s good or bad when you have a crop in

Hey Dag, I know it's too late, but maybe for the next time remember you can rent an auger to transfer the crops from the silo to the trailer, it's more "in character". Also for the slurry spread you could have used hose and pumps dlc content. A bit of fresh air since noone use it!

Slurry and manure with precision farming is quite simple. They add a fixed amount of nitrogen to the field, depending only on the soil type. Not on crop type. So you do not get good/bad because there is nothing planted. That is it. Using both slurry and manure will take you almost all the way to full nitrogen for crops that need a lot. It drastically reduces the fertilizer you use. Some crops will only need one application of either slurry or manure, but I forget which those are. Oats I think is one that double application is too much nitrogen. I think cover crops do something similar but I rarely use them.

In real life the amount of nitrogen required varies per crop. I would imagine FS22 is the same, so if there is no crop in the ground it wouldn't be able to say 'Poor' or 'Good' yet. Probably best to plant a crop first, so the variable rate could adjust according to the crop. I could be mistaken though

Not saying you are wrong because you are very much correct but unfortunately FS22 works on the soil type rather than the crop, annoys me as I'm a farmer

Unlike chemical fertilizers the organic ones have a variable rate NOT based on the crop but instead on the soil type. They are ment to be used just like you did, in order to reduce the amount of the chemicals after you put the crop in. They have another benefit as well. After you harvest the crop, the amount of nitrogen still left in the soil is greater if you are using organics. So the next time you will use even less fertilizer.

I love oxygendavids maps,my only complaint about his maps is he make the gate entrances to narrow,my solution is to take a telehandler with the big bag handler and lift them over the fence

FarmSimGuy put out a video on how to fix this by modifying the gate swing from 90 to 130 degrees. Made a huge difference.

No, organics vary the amount based on the soil type. They are flat when it comes to crop types.

Splash plates aren't illegal in the UK yet but it'll be coming soon. The reasoning behind the ban is to do with the amount of nitrogen emissions being lost to the atmosphere as opposed to going into the ground. With a splash plate, the slurry hits the plate with such force it's effectively 'vaporised' causing a large amount of nitrogen to go into the atmosphere which is obviously bad for climate change. The alternatives currently are dribble bar/trailing shoe setups or swivel spout spreaders. Using a dribble bar or trailing shoe means the slurry is concentrated and applied directly to the ground meaning its the best option for keeping nitrogen emissions down. These do come with their own drawbacks however, in particular weight, cost and the manner in which the slurry is applied. Dribble bars are heavy, really heavy, a tractor applying slurry with a bar will typically use three times as much diesel as the same setup with a splash plate while also vastly increasing ground compaction. The cost is offset somewhat in the UK at least by government grants but are still a more expensive option. Lastly, applying slurry in such concentrated lines doesn't give a very even application, it'll leave burn lines that are often still viable after two cuts while the ground can only absorb so much and so run off is a real issue in certain circumstances. Swivel spouts are a good all round option as they weigh no more than a splash plate so fuel use and ground compaction are minimised. The slurry isn't vaporised like a plate, rather thrown through the air which keeps nitrogen contained until it hits the ground, this also gives an even spread minimising run off and leaving no burn lines. They're not quite as effective as a dribble bar for keeping nitrogen emissions but aren't far off. When looked at from an overall emissions perspective rather than solely nitrogen emissions, swivel spouts make a lot of sense.

With Precision Farming you should do Lime and Fertilizer after planting, because it uses specific amounts for different crops... Applying those before the crop is planted could end up with the wrong amounts.

Hi dag if you want a splash plate download the mod Irish slurry pack you have a bigger and smaller tanker the bigger one holds 9100 liters but I'm not sure about the small one but comes with flotation like tires
