It was super refreshing to see someone look at one of their old videos and not just complain, bur rather acknowledge the effort and love put into it! I discovered your videos while preparing for a larp, and spinning has been something I've wanted to try for a while now, but I've never gotten around to getting the supplies. The chance of me winning the giveaway is low, but even without having the supplies I need to start spinning sent to my door, your channel will end up being the reason I get around to try spinning, that's genuinly how inspiring I find your videos.

It was fun to see you from then to now and the difference from a balanced yarn to an over twisted yarn. A balanced yarn is a trick at first to achieve but we eventually get there, it's a multi task operation remembering not to petal to fast while paying attention to what your hands are doing, kinda like rubing your head and pating your tummy at the same time, but I love that muscle memory eventually takes over ;).

Evie, your channel helped me rekindle my love of spinning. Once I found it last year I went back and watched all of your videos from the beginning, and that first one was really helpful to me because other spinners I know thought you always had to hang yarn with a weight. Your other videos explained how to get a balanced ply and were so helpful in getting me to understand the things about spinning that had previously frustrated me. I also enjoy how you integrate history into your videos as that is an intense interest of mine. Keep those videos coming, we love them!

I've just discovered your channel one day ago and have made a-- sort of-- functioning bottom drop spindle with the plastic center of a kinder egg and a fat bamboo meat skewer. I'm also trying a 'distaff' from a broken shovel handle with the plastic D-handle still attached. These, the first things I found, are working OK though they completely lack elegance. I have made some very over spun yarn on them. Ha! I'm looking forward to continuing to learn how to spin. I've only used larger whorl, drop spindles before, but I want to get or make a good model of a small one, top, bottom, and/or supported going. I love your sleuthing videos about the Viking tools and your study of their fibre creations. Congratulations on your milestone and thanks.

Jillian, you have been my fundamental voice of reason as I have navigated the black hole of fiber arts. There are many talented people who share their knowledge and it is appreciated, but often leaves me feeling overwhelmed because there is too much to learn. However, your humor, your faux pas, and your encouraging manner encourage me to try, to experiment, and to take risks. You encourage us to be unique and to just love the experience and appreciate the outcome. So with your help, I absolutely love the fluff, even when it gets on my lipstick...in my my eyes, under my armpits (which is why I use a scrub top rather than an apron). Not enough words to express my appreciation. Thank you for persevering and sharing! Congrats on your milestones. May God continue to bless you and your journey. Take care, Jacki

I’ve only just found your channel-I was looking for information to fix over spun yarn, and this was the first video to come up. I’ve been spinning since 2016, but I spun my first deliberate art yarn about a week ago, and my single is over spun. Because of the nature of the art yarn, I can’t ply it. It’s not terribly over spun, but it’s over spun enough that I’d like to adjust it. I think it’s awesome that you’re reviewing your first video! You’ve become so much more confident and comfortable making videos, and I admire your courage to start making videos and stick with it! Go you!
