Welcome back to a new mini series about HELIX Permanent Jewelry Welder!
As permanent jewelry is becoming more and more popular and jewelers are expanding their businesses with this tool, I wanted to show you what it is and what it can do. If you're curious about permanent jewelry, this series is meant to explain and show everything you need to know about Helix, how to use it, what are the uses (not just permanent jewelry!) and how to get started with permanent jewelry business. I hope these videos will help you! If there's anything you're curious about, make sure to ask your questions in the comments, I will do my best to respond.
Today I want to see what this micro welder can do and if it can replace soldering?? There are some tricky jobs, where you can no longer use heat or when setting up multiple elements for soldering seems impossible and today I'm sharing several projects that hopefully will show you this tool's capabilities and answer your questions :)

Ok, you got to admit that I managed to save that fail pretty well haha! 😆So, what you you think about the welder?? Pretty handy, isn't it! In some cases welding can totally replace soldering and in others - it can assist. I love this, I could see so many uses from watching you, I could see it being a daily use item if I had the space and money, it would be fantastic. Even just to make sure those pesky jump rings STAY closed! Making your own bails that again stay closed, neat ball head pins for holding beads that I love. I wonder if you did that could you then gently hammer that ball into more of flat dome shape, I found some head pins that weren’t balls and weren’t flat, they were like dainty domes and were perfect so I wonder how that would work if you had a bead sized metal ball with hole you could put the pin through weld the end then gently hammer to shape, would it work! I make a bracelet with LOADS of dainty gemstone head pins wrapped to coils and different sized gemstones, and it looks stunning, the hardest part is getting suitable sterling silver pins with suitable “keep the bead on” parts! The pins were so expensive it wasn’t feesable to make more, this would let you get wire and create from scratch and make it dainty and ease less wire! Love your videos Basia (hope I spelt that right) you are such a good teacher and I love seeing what you create and how you create it and the innovative uses you have for things with a totally different use! 😊😊😊

I love this, I can see so many uses in jewellery making, if only I had the space and money lol! Love how it worked for your pendant and the ball on the wire to keep the bead on that was perfect. You “cage” pendant was lovely I must admit I did wonder when the crystal wasn’t there lol, but these things happen for a reason and became more perfect for you! 😊😊😊 how is your new workspace I hope you are more settled now and “freeer” 😊😊😊

Not too bad pricing for a micro spot welder. Not applicable if you’re trying to add metal as it’s using the existing metal to make a weld. One trick you may want to try with this machine if you have thick material to weld is drilling a through hole and welding through the hole. This machine would probably be wonderful if you were trying to make a chain from scratch.

Considering it's a $2,000 welder, I'll stick with soldering....also the whole argon tank in the house, odd you didn't talk about that.

Of course, it's not something you have to get, that's not a necessary tool for everyone. It's a great addition to a growing workshop and if it's being used on a regular basis by some makers 😁 I talked all about the tank and the whole set up in the first video from the mini series, please feel free to check it out, it's on the channel and linked under this video. I share how to set everything up, explain what this tool is and, what it does 👍 As for the argon itself, according to a quick Google search "Argon itself does not burn. Containers may explode in fire. Use water spray to keep fire-exposed containers cool. Argon may react explosively with liquid nitrogen", so don't worry, it's not more dangerous at home than any other canisters or gases you might have.

Great tool but very pricey, there’s other welders out there for much less than 1,400 dollars and for newbie’s or people that just do it for a hobby 1,400 is way too expensive

how much do they cost, i can see the use they have but if the cost is restrictive not only to purchase also to run iit is not cost effective as in costing three to five pounds to do two small jobs and it cost 7/8 hundred pounds to buy i will not be buying

Could you explain? I'm not sure what you mean by "cost to run", do you mean energy? I have another video about the set up in which I'm also explaining more about this tool. Maybe it'll answer more of your questions
