Can women preach? Should they be allowed to preach? Has the church isolated women from holding prominent leadership roles? Interesting dialogue between the sisters on this panel: Rev. Marcia Dyson (Wife of Michael Eric Dyson), Dr. Carolyn Ann Knight, as well as Carlton Pearson, Freddy Haynes, & Cornell West. Though this is 18 years ago, I see so many of these same questions and issues being prevalent today. What do you all think?? Let's dialogue RESPECTFULLY in the comments!

The only thing I can and will say is let the word of God guide and let us know the position of women in the church. And it's there whether you want to acknowledge or disregard it or not. Do not add or subtract from God's word. Study and be approved.

The problem is never been whether women can preach, the problem has been to whom. The scripture is clear on universal authority in the spirit. The problem the subject brings up is that if women are called to be apostles and bishops and pastors over men, then God contradicts his word, and that opens up the door for other people to come in and use that to tear down the scriptures. If the woman does not use authority over the man, this is where we need to focus. That means if men are part of congregations, and if the position requires the woman to use, serve authority over a man, then that position is not for a woman.

“The don’t have access to the symbol of power that is the pulpit”. God did not tell us the have that level of authority in the church. Not because he is sexist or that women are not important but because he established an order that we don’t have to understand but obey. Yes we have permission speak to and teach women and children. God placed in Adam in authority and Eve under his authority. When she stepped out of her position, the fall came. We can share Christ but under the headship as God set it up and in the manners that God allow us. It saddens my heart when many women feel like their voices don’t matter unless in a pulpit. We have been given the one of the most admirable assignment ever: teaching the children who will BECOME the pastors, leaders, teachers, etc in our homes and communities. We are blessed to prophecy, pray and set the tone of our homes and societies. We have to be careful not to get so caught up in challenging the positions that men hold that we neglect the ones that we are blessed to hold. If men submit to God, they will live and teach soundly. The women will hear and live soundly. The women will then teach the children soundly. The children will grow and live soundly. Everyone would be in order and covered.

I feel you my sister I know this has been two years ago but I really want to compliment you in other words you're just saying that if we learn to play our roles right and stay in our lanes until God calls us into something else and obey his word everything will be okay this is what I'm receiving from your message which is true God ordained certain things in the Bible to be his way not our way and not the way that we want it I was raised by women and men in my family and everybody knew their role and how to operate in it I think we missed a whole point sometimes I feel that it is all about people not being heard just like you said when they are being heard we both have to be submissive to God and we will both be held accountable to God for our actions this is what people tend to miss about the word of God we will be all held accountable for our actions and we have to be careful what we choose to battle and what we pick and choose for the better of our families and our friends because Satan is always working to turn us against each other

He does whatever he wants at any given time, his name is above ALL ( Jesus) We also must Understand that God is Spirit & his ways are not our ways. And this is the dysfunctional piece that truly needs to be addressed. Why don’t we allow the text to speak for itself? I haven’t always agreed with everything I came across in the scriptures, but I just can’t wish it away or behave as if I don’t know where people might be gathering such conclusions from. Nonetheless, I’m convinced that my Heavenly Father knows best, so I’m going to continue to trust his wisdom over mine’s.

While I do love Bro. West, the whole "Jesus never said anything about homosexuality" line is an easy cop - out. He never said anything about it because the WORD homosexuality wasn't invited at that time. HOWEVER, the ACT WAS and in that the ACT was ALWAYS mentioned in a pejorative manner, when mentioned in the Bible. We gotta stop getting church/biblical answers from people who we don't even know if they go to church.

I'm sure you, carrying such a title, have already figured it out that the spirit of Jezebel runs very deep amongst our women especially in these latter days just as it has throughout our People's history. Sadly most of us think a woman labeled as a Jezebel is speaking of a whore of the flesh when actually it is a woman who is a spiritual whore that wants to stand up front as a leader in spiritual matters. The number of so called churches led by Women is only going to increase due to the lack of knowledge in the men of our community.

Sister Dyson, the question is about women being in leadership in the church, not ministering/ preaching. Of course anyone can preach, teach the gospel because that's every believers assignment and responsibility. However, man (male) has been designated by the Word of God to be the leader (person of responsibility) in the church. (1 Timothy 3:2-7 ; Titus 1:6-9). Also in the home the husband is the headship; Ephesians 5: 22-23. Harriet Tubman descriptions are worthless and baseless on leadership in the church. "If we want to use the Bible", what else are we going to use!!??😮

Truth spoken by Rev. Shaw : 1st problem the church faced after Jesus ascension was "Who does the church belong to?" When Satan can't derail the life of the church, he will attempt to divert (take control of it) and then he renders it ineffective. We see that today. Too much arguing over who should and should not preach. The power of the Holy Spirit will address the issues of sex, gender, and race so that we can address the doctrine of our faith in Jesus Christ.

This is like the big "Rhema" (right above logos and rhema which is alpha and omega) but the Voice. (kole in Hbr) Our understanding cannot be leaned to even after the illumination. (I Cor.4:6.) The rule stands, (para) lean not to your own understanding but trust in the Lord. But the one who brings the Understanding is called Prudence. The Sons are commanded to call her next of kin (to Wisdom) We are to call Wisdomn sister. (aw-mar chakmah awkhoth kiy kara tawboon moda - Prov. 7:4) But why? Why if we have understanding from the Lord don't lean to it? BC revelation knowledge is 3fold being of the Patyr' "Precepts upon Precepts". For instance, it is written, my ppl perish from lack of knowledge. And "..where there is no vision the ppl perish". The revelation comes from the knowledge that reveals the Will of God by vision of what you hear. This is as Seer not as Prophet or son. I got no knowledge of God when I was just a Prophet. The way the knowledge comes to those in the secret place (is 3fold) who are in the Book of Remembrance (Mal.3:16-18.) Can be seen as Precept upon Precept (revelations Knowlege) Line upon Line (revealed knowledge) A Littel here (revelation) the latter is the vision. You will never have it unless you repent of your sins like you promised the Lord but never did! (Isa.28:9-13)

I will go even further and say that because most if not the majority of the churches no longer do it the original way as laid out in The Scriptures is why there are so many "churches" and not just The Church! I knew a man that had very little regard for GOD The FATHER or HIS Son JESUS CHRIST and lived and spoke as such yet told me on many occasions that his future retirement plan was to inherit a Congregation/Church that was established by a Family member of his who told him that he would eventually take over and become its Pastor was baffling to me but by that time in my life I had already seen that in my experiences from the churches that I had visited that church was a business of the flesh and not a place that People gathered to seek to know, learn, and worship The GOD of The Bible. As far a a Woman standing as a Pastor/Bishop/Elder/Overseer of a Congregation of People to include men goes against all Scripture. I do however believe that all People/Women that are drawn to GOD by HIS Spirit for Salvation in HIS Son JESUS CHRIST have been called to be a witness for JESUS CHRIST! The Scriptures clearly points out the path of each individual and the roll they are to walk in. First we must know that Salvation is for all mankind, the sons and daughters of Noah/Adam. As far as the roll played by the Priesthood of All Believers it goes like this according to The Scriptures. The Literal Seed of Abraham as the Priesthood. Men: Husband of one wife to be a Bishop or Elder to oversee a group or Congregation of People. The men who are not the seed of Abraham but come from the seed of Ham or Japheth aka the Stranger who join themselves to Israel have that same "One Law" that they follow that was given to Abraham's Seed. The women: teach the children and younger women. Anything outside of The Scriptures is just a way that seems right but are actually not but the ways of death.

It is amazing that the focus, by its title, of this edit focuses on women's leadership, and each time a gentleman speaks the conversation skirts the issue and the avoidance or dismissivenessis demonstrative of the filibuster mentality that many adopt to not simply speak directly to the issue of women in leadership.

@Dennis Allen if you are referring to the book of revelation you misunderstood the symbolism of the phrase. Please please take the time to understand the OT and NT scriptures. Please never read your race into the holy scriptures of God. The Lord is not going to usher you into heaven because you're black and oppressed or because you're black, white, yellow or green. "For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. Romans 1:16 ESV" (Greek = Gentiles)

You noticed that Mrs Dyson never mentioned any scriptures and when she's mentioned the scriptures she talks about the Samaritan woman and she totally misunderstood that event and associates that to woman preacher and she uses Lazarus resurrection as an event of women preachers which read her own interpretation without the real context. "Older women teach young women commandment in the scriptures have been neglected by the church so by so doing we don't have pious and gospel believing women any longer The same goes with young men who are not being disciples by men. You either submit to the scriptures or submit to your own pride.

I went to church for years and sat under a man preacher and was never saved, but it was a woman who led me to salvation in Jesus Christ, and I knew I had received him in my heart, and that woman was my sister, so it doesn’t matter if it is a woman or man preacher to me , as long as they come with the truth of Jesus Christ and salvation through the Blood 🤔🤔🤔

I’m glad the woman in the brown coat got back to the subject at hand. We talking about women’s issues in the church, you turn it over to two men and now the subject is patriotism 🤨. It annoys me how in all these types of videos (mostly with old men), they never seem to actually answer or address the question/topic at hand. They just flip the topic and say something to make the crowd feel good. Which works GREAT with church folks. You can tell they’re educated cause they do it so eloquently and smooth you don’t realize what’s happening 😂

The Almighty does what He choose to do. For me its ok for me to not have the privilege to speak or teach in a church pulpit. I don't mind sharing The Word of the Almighty in the store, in my neighbor's home, at the doctor's office, with a stranger on the train or where ever the spirit leads. I live in a small tiny rural farming community upstate n.y. among the old order Amish. For the 21 years me and my husband have been living here The Almighty has opened a wide door for me to speak, teach and preach to and with them which is something that they don't allow but tet they will sit down and patiently listen which is something that as far as I know has never been allowed in the Old order Amish Religious history. Amen.

She said Paul said men should rule over women, Paul got that revelation from the Lord. God said it in the book of Genesis! Every since the fall, the spirit of rebellion has been operating heavily in the world as well as in the church! The rebellion against the commands, statutes and Word Of God! God told Adam that he hearkened to his wife, meaning he listened to her rather than God! And who did the woman get deceived by? The serpent, this is the beginning of why women can not be Pastors and or preachers of God's Word! When the woman get to the word that says a woman is not permitted to teach or usurp authority. The only thing she can do with that scripture is add to it/take away from it, or just skip over it and never teach it. But I say nobody can get by the Word of God. And that's what most rebellious people can't stand. I read somewhere in the bible about a rebellious woman who calleth herself a prophetess, one who taught the servants of God to commit fornication and eat things sacrificed unto idols! They call her JEZEBEL! Tell these women to rightly divide this, (Numbers 27:15-19!) It said a MAN, talking about Joshua but pointing to Jesus!

If anybody wants to know why women shouldn't preach, this is a PERFECT example! How you going to hijack the story of Jesus raising Lazarus from the dead, and make it about women!??? SMH!!! And the most telling thing to me was, that lady who said she went to church as a child I guess, and decided then, that's what she wanted to be. Last time I checked, TMH chooses who will speak on HIS behalf! Yeah, HE made the rocks cry out! But that's the whole point right there! The rock Didn't decide to speak!! The rock obeyed the TMH, who commanded the rock to speak!! And after the rock spoke, did you call it Rabbi, or Bishop, or Pastor? No..!!! Following these women will have you sooo backwards and confused, that you will Never have understanding. TMH chooses who/what HE chooses! It's like the moon telling the sun, why only you can rule the day? Why can't I shine during the day? I have light!! I can help men see. But it's all about the will of TMH. Deborah and Miriam both held positions of leadership over God’s people. While Miriam was subject to Aaron and Moses, neither of them stopped the calling of God over her life to speak what He told her. Deborah was The Judge over Israël and under her reign Israel was peaceful for 40yrs because she was a righteous representative of God that practiced and executed his word over Men and Women. And even in her position she was still a wife and probably submitted to her husband in keeping with God’s law. At some point we all have to forgive women for eves mistake because as we saw in the garden, both of them sinned.

It was because woman sinned that man sinned, which led to both of them consequently sinning. If you look at it, Adam defended his wife Eve's wrongdoing. This is not to blame shift or downplay any gender. I'm just keeping it in perspective. Fast forward to I Timothy chapter 2 where it says woman is not to usurp authority over a man or to teach. Adam was not deceived but the woman was in transgression. Specific instructions on how to handle order in the church.

Ms1001k you should read this and tell me what your think. as a servant of the Lord and of the Father they want me to tell you where you have failed as females. He says the world has won you over from the beginning through depravity. You are being deprived of the purpose in which you were created for. The first man did it to the first woman in the form of negligence. A woman (after 30) is wired to orgasm every 5 minutes. (The rhythm is 1-3-5-5-3-1) She took independent thought with the serpent who was in league with satan. Had Adam thrown her down on the ground (softly) and dive on top, the Patyr' would have left. If when the Patyr' returned at the 3rd hour (9am as He does today in the secret place) the next day Adam should've taken his wife with him and the patyr' to finish the work. Instead, he left her with the serpent whom he used to be alone with. This is now negligence in hindsight. When a husband fails to satisfy his wife it will generate that enmity in her. The older a woman gets the more consistent sexual activity she needs from the same man. (marriage secures this!) By 30 she needs one hour, by 40 she needs 2 hours, by 50 she needs 3 hours, 3 weeks out of every month. This knowledge is given through the woman to the man which creates the emotional bond she is looking for. You don't know it until you reach it. But you always know when that is not it! You didn't tell them whatever you do don't be a lesbian or associate with one bc they carry additional curses. They are completely outside of the Lord's Will. This knowledge is what mothers have failed to give their daughters bc their mothers didn't have it. Fornication kills it. In that, men still have not learned how to love you. Your primary place and reason for being on death is to bring your husband pleasure. The man you choose to love you is who you give that pleasure to. I'm telling you there is such a thing as total sexual satisfaction. Its when you have full control of your orgasm system and can at will climax, orgasm, multiple orgasm, the stream that last 5-15 minutes of orgasms and finally the cycles that given you control of your libido. That is when "oh my gawd" sounds like a whisper. (spoiler: the elephant in the room is the fact that mostly all husbands release too soon when his wife is just beginning to get started to cum but with knowledge it is all of our libidos and he refused to give her affection and attention until next time. But this is just btw us shhhh) It is all bc He had to curse you through your first mother with the cursed name "Eve". See, the curse is (double) enmity and sorrow which amounts to doubt and unbelief. This is where double favor is given that begins with virginity. (note: this becomes the main area where mothers fail daughters and leave them to satan i.e. the older women teach the younger women to love..not hate with enmity. Men and women are hating each other for the same reason they should be loving each other. The woman is designed for sex, it is the spice of life) So it was already established that every woman has a chance at double favor. (men too) It cannot be taken away as long as her virginity is intact upon marriage. The double favor comes in when she accepts Christ. "Favor" is in the Blood Covenant of Christ. The rule is if you have sex with more than two ppl you were not married to then you forfeit favor in your relationship. He who finds a wife finds a good thing (not a hoe or hoeMaker) and obtains the favor of the Lord. The exception to the 2 sex partners is, if you accept Christ and remain celibate until marriage ten you will have the favor of the Lord. But double favor means you have the favor of the Lord and of the Patyr'. The solution to the problem is in the problem Says The Lord To break it down, women become promiscuous which shuts down he libido to lead her to this place of ecstasy during copulation. This was the only life the man and his wife had in the garden prior to sinning. They just had not come together before they sinned. And I see where it is the first thing satan does with newborn babes in the Lord. Satan sends someone to take their celibacy, not knowing they are giving up their favor when the do bc Ministers are doing the same thing, not repenting of their sins like they promised the Lord. Is yall really gonna support ur feeling over Bible, the Bible says women cannot hold authority OVER a man (in Church) How a man gonna be head over his house, then when he come to Church under the woman. Also Mary Magdalene NEVER preached, stop saying that, she delivered a note from Jesus to the Apostles. She just lied about the woman at the well. All she did was go out to witness about what Jesus did for her and that's what lead a lot of people to Jesus. Her role as a witness demonstrated that by Jesus empowers ordinary to go out and share the good news no matter the gender or background. Witnessing to people is not preaching. That's what ministry is. Find this in the book of John 4:10-26 and 28-30 and 39-42.

I have a serious problem with just the term, THE BLACK CHURCH, in no way shape or manner should ethnicity have anything to do with the church. In fact unless its an area where thats all that live there i wouldnt go to any church that arent freely open and minister the same message to all.This term created a barrier that divides true Christians born of theHoly Spirit, it usually turns into a social gospel and a cultic movement, be careful.

Actually the term “Black Church” was created as a result of racist white churches not allowing black people to worship with them especially in the southern states formerly the confederacy so white supremacy & Amerikkkan racism created the black church They created the divide not us However our churches have always been open to all people
