A CELEBRATION!!! Thanks to people like Gez, the commenter's input, the doctors and researchers that have kept open minds, and other high quality youtubers exercising freedom of thought and speech.... MY DAUGHTER'S BLOOD PRESSURE AND HEART RATE ARE NORMAL UPON STANDING THIS MORDING!!!!! I couldn't have figured out what to try or who to work with if it hadn't been for all of you. We will probably never meet, but I am thanking God for each one of you. This horrible thing may not be over, but we are getting there! THANK YOU ALL

What helped the most to get your daughter's BP & Heart rate down?
@risecopeman5409

@@sheiladenise6716 I think it is doing multiple things. And some things we tried either were not helpful or caused a side effect that, for her in her extremely weakened state, was not tolerable for her gastric system. With all that said, we feel that the first positive thing was consistent IV fluids (lactated ringers) but going slow about adding things to it (eventually glutathione and vitamin C and magnesium, etc.), and also using a heating pad to warm her arm so the cold temp didn't shock her system. Next positive thing was the combination of h1 and h2 blockers for gastric histamine symptoms (as Gez and others like FLCC and drbeeb mention). Also, going no dairy. Also supplementing with simple collagen protien (good taste, texture, soothing on stomach, low histamine) drinks (twice a day - plain collagen (20 g protien), 1 cup plain almond milk (no weird additives!), and either 1) 1/2 cup frozen blueberries and two capsules of drberg electrolytes and one capsule strong probiotic emptied into bullet blender, or 2) 1 tbsp cocoa, splash of vanilla, 1 tsp plain sugar (she needs calories and we don't do stevia or fake sweeteners) plus electrolyes and probiotics, and ice.... My daughter started this journey strong, lean, slender, and had no reserve. Also, she didn't stop dance classes and that quickly, dramatically wasted her muscles away (PEM) (so wish we had known what was happening and avoided that great loss). Also, along with extremely low blood pressure and high heart rate upon laying down or standing, she also had body pain, major gastric pain, constipation, and weight loss due to inability to eat enough or absorb nutrients. Also, even water made her worse, so quickly very underweight and very dehydrated. Hence tolerable nutrition and IV fluids were essential. She also is tappering down from prednisone. It was a trial to see if it helped. Not sure. Early on,, about a month ago, we tried increasing salt 1 tsp per day (when we started IV fluids) definitly helped hydration retention, but her stomach couldn't tolerate it. Now that she is a tiny bit better, and on h1 h2 blockers and her tummy is a bit better,, we are going to try that agsin. Finally, something (possibly prednisone or hormone flip?) caused an 11 day menstrual period and diarrhea. That finally ended yesterday. So, overall, we have a very long way to go. Her body pain and malaise still flare daily even on prednisone. I think we are going to low dose naltrexone. Also, we are going to get her in to see someone like Dr Berkowitz because we just can't wait any longer for more solid information and a better plan. Trying to figure it all out,, trying reasonable things, and trying to not cause any damage, is wearing her and us out in every way. We need outside help by open minded,, intelligent specialists quickly.

@@sheiladenise6716 We tried, and are still trying, so many things that Gez, FLCCC, drbeen, drberkowitz, and others mention. Ultimately, IV fluids, and h1 and h2 blockers and no dairy and homemade, simple, tasty collagen protien drinks (low histamine and not pre flavored) with electrolyte poiwder and probiotics seem the best. Some other things may have helped, like prednisone or 1 tsp salt increase. Not sure. Somethings helped but the side effects at that time were too much. We are probably going to try adding low dose naltrexone and mitochondrial/ATP helpers next. And enzymes like nattokinase and serrapeptase to break up blood. And try to gently add more salt again. Hopefully her stomach can handle it this time. We are also going to try to get in to see Dt Betkowitz or some kind of open minded long covid clinic. Despite the little gains we are making, we are starting to fall apart again. We need help. In the mean time, we will keep trying to carefully try recommended treatments in some kind of logically order. Her hometown general doc is pretty good and generally willing, but hasn't had enough time or specific experience with this. Also, in the mean time, since her body pain is still coming and going, we are going to continue ruling out lyme disease, further autoimmune like things, etc. I wish she could get H.E.L.P apherisis. Ok, hope that all helps somehow. Watching videos, reading, especially people's comments, helped me, too. I will pray for you.

I was very lucky to have got in to Suzy's classes right at the beginning, a few months after my first Covid infection in March 2020, and at a time when I was in despair of how little control I had over my body and thinking I would never recover and was disabled for life. It was a long slog, and progress was not linear bit could go backwards at times before going forwards again, but two and a half years later I've been back at work full time for 6 months now, and no longer have to pace or monitor my activity for fear of a crash. If you're suffering, please don't give up on yourself, and follow all the great advice from people like Suzy and Gez. Lean into the community of fellow LC sufferers, we GET IT. The support and love I got from the yoga group was incredible, and an essential part of my recovery.

@@RUNDMC1 Thank you Gez! It's a credit to the effectiveness of Suzy's classes that when I was finally able to get some support from the NHS, getting referred to a pulmonary rehab course over a year in, they said that all they could tell me to do was to keep on doing what I was doing, it was all exactly the right stuff and they had nothing else to advise. 11:20 - it's also hard when you're not married, have no other income and the realistic challenge of being in financial trouble. I agree with all of this though --- If I start, I won't stop, but yes! I thought self care was my nursing career, teaching zumba in between, leading a hiking club.....I was self caring by dying to take care of people, but I wasn't taking care of myself psychologically. Long-Long hauler, from the gaslighting of march 2020, when I went from working the frontline, to a patient of severe illness, and even more severe neglect. Losses. A lot of losses. My tool box was empty -- except my faith. Acceptance in the present, but fortitude to persevere. YES. Thank you, love it. Mind-body and reality, not schizophrenia. Excellent, thank you!

This is exactly what I needed to hear right now. I started my recovery program with these principles very much in mind and reached a point where I thought I was recovered, only to crash again after another bout of infection. I love that rebuild vs rewind language you gave it, Gez. That really captures the nuance of trying to balance acceptance and hope in a way that doesn’t make the illness worse. What Suzy said about the biggest key to recovery coming from learning how to truly care for your bodymind system for maybe the first time in your life-that rings so true for me. I knew I pushed my body hard before this, but I don’t think I fully grasped *how* hard. I never knew how to listen to my body, and when I started learning that intuition for the first time was the moment my illness turned from getting worse to getting better (on the long arc, of course-there were still many relapses). I did the research and I tried the vitamins and I did the breathwork and all the other stuff, but once I finally learned how to listen to my body, all that other work started to work. I was fortunate to have a very flexible student job that had minimal specific hours, and so I took every basic need as it came, in order, without trying to plan too much. It took a year and a half or so of just trying to make sense of what was happening and guesstimate from the wisdom of folks with ME/CFS, and then another year and a half or so of listening and resting and sleeping just absurd numbers of hours, but somewhere last month, my body started processing tiredness normally again, for the first time in three years. And now I’m confused all over again 😅. But for me the key really was learning to listen to my body, like Suzy said. Everything else I did only started working when it started building off of that.

Another great video! I think yoga (in the broad sense) can be really helpful, especially if we think of it as a philosophy of life. As a yogi myself (trained in vinyasa 😅 but also yin and restorative) I couldn't do my (years long) physical or meditation or breathing practice for a long time. I thought it was interesting that the tools that had been helpful for so long no longer helped at certain stages. I had to 1) sort my breathing first (which was completely messed up) worked with the wonderful Kelly Mitchell (the breathing PT) and turned a first corner, and 2) sort the physiology (dysautonomia with pills). Only then was I able to return to some of my practices. BUT the yoga principles were important throughout - I think this nuance is important- perhaps asana is not going to be always helpful or helpful for everyone but there's a lot in yoga practices beyond that. I also think a lot about what it means to be recovered. Maybe it means different things to different people. Is it going back to previous way of living? Is it regaining some function? So many questions to consider

Suzie is such a lovely person who has so succinctly described the lives we lead and the lack of real self care that's needed to promote parasympathetic activity (that which religious communities have been practising for centuries in the form of prayer snd meditation ) and assist subsequent healing. We've got out of touch with how to care for our souls. Modern medicine doesn't generally acknowledge the mind / body connection so no promotion of this type of therapy from primary practioners, which clearly has a place in the LC puzzle. Thank you Gez for such an insightful and helpful video, which l hope will be helpful to the Long Long Covid sufferers, and those who feel that nothing much else has worked for them, in particular.

Suzy, what a wonderful interview! Do you have a recommendation for people in the United States who want to participate in person, perhaps with a colleague who follows your same program? Here in the States there is almost no mention of LC, and nothing like this offered. The brain fog is still so prevalent, headache, PEM etc. I originally got sick over Christmas 2019, immediately after my Grandfather passed away whilst on holiday. I knew about LC very early on, but living in total isolation for 8-ish months, grieving alone and hard every day, was also driven by PEM. Every doctor I spoke with told me to see a psychiatrist and therapist. (I was already under the care of both.) We desperately need advocacy, treatment like yours, it frustrates me so because I work in Public Health and I know millions are suffering in my country and they don't know why. Any information on your program, a link would be very helpful. Thank you for your hard work. Gez thanks for bringing this topic to light. I know you are still on the road to recovery.

Ah Gez, she's lovely and as a yoga teacher of many years, it's been so hard to pace myself. I attended yoga classes at the local Virgin Active and landed up in so much additional pain that I became alarmed at my inability to take a class without getting PEM. I tried some of the equipment ~ same thing. So I landed up in the heated pool doing asana in the pool and followed up with a sauna and then into a cold shower. So many setbacks when I started falling, creating multiple injuries. I only go for my swim, sauna and shower when I'm up to it, or if the water's warm enough get into my pool (that's a struggle) and do up to six x 25 metres with breaks in between. My Daughter and her hubby got me a Garmin watch so I'm able to feel motivated seeing I've done these swims on the app, or done some deep breathing, had sufficient hydration, and check on things like sleep patterns and duration. For the Dysautonomia, I've added a litre of water with half a teaspoon of salt and four teaspoons of sugar (supposed to be 6!), a spoon of isotonic powder, an eighth spoon cream of tartar for potassium and 2 tspns Vit C powder, shake it all up and drink throughout the day. I've also had a back brace fitted and see a physio once a week. I've had better sleep for the last two nights, so, for now, what I'm doing is working. There's improvement My other complication is a non healing ulcer on my left foot which creates a lot of pain and needs constant attention. Earlier, the soles of my feet were black, as though I'd walked on charcoal dust. I got that off with footbaths and scrubs but was left with this ulcer which I treated with ozone, laser light, infrared, and what works best (of all things) is a piece of red onion applied to the heel and bandaged, worn overnight and then I use a cotton wool round pasted with Zinc ointment and sealed off with a breathable tape. My left side was totally dysfunctional and I landed up using crutches which impacted me negatively. The brace allows me to walk without crutches and physio exercises have restored lost pelvic function and core muscles. What I have learned: It's a journey, not a destination.

Recently, I’ve actieved significant relief from my muscle pain by stretching regularly as well as by taking creatine, eating raw garlic cloves rather than the garlic supplements I was taking as well as by taking my rotating stack of serrapeptase, nattokinase, apixaban (I rotate them with at least a day in between the various pills) and low dose aspirin which I take every day. Especially re the stretching I can’t believe it hadn’t occurred to me that that would help. I used to do it all the time when I was working out a lot. But it allows the blood to flow to parts of the muscles that it otherwise wouldn’t flow to. And it puts hardly any demand on your muscles, the way exercising does. Rest, repair and try to never exacerbate your symptoms plus reducing stress, I believe gives the best chance of recovery in early years of postviral illness. Self care and not pushing through; proper time for convalescence. Deep rest, breathwork and meditation can be an important part of that. There are plenty of free meditation and yoga nidra resources on KZbin which may help especially if finances are tight. Ask for practical help and listen to materials to learn about self compassion. Even Action for Happiness has lots of material on KZbin that can support us on this journey to improve our stress levels and learn the art of self care... Vagus nerve stimulation and some supplements Gez has discussed elsewhere may also help. Now is the time...

I'm thinking we should all write to our MPs and tell them that we are still suffering. So they get a better view of how many people are suffering. It's OK that the government have set up the Long Covid clinics. But are they really helping anyone? And how many are still slipping through the net? I think if we could all flood our MPs with letters of our suffering. Hopefully more would be done in terms of research. Support packages etc.

Hi Gez, my wife has been coughing since July 22. We all got Covid then. She tried all home remedies and recently a throat steroid spray. Using the spray made her cough go away totally. But once she stopped its back. I am very sad and waiting for her to get well. It’s not severe. She can work and do everything but that fact that its not going away is causing a lot of mental stress as well. Please advise.

Does anyone have dysautonomia from possible C? Will LC suggestions work for dysautonomia?

Yes, rest and breathwork is so important. I have also recently read that supplementing B1 and Omega 3 will help with probiotic. But rest and repair. No pushing through this

Gez talks a lot about dysautonomia - I've struggled with it in my LC journey as well. Deep rest is important, avoiding triggers (heat is a big one for me), moving slowly from lying to standing, etc.

Maximus, this is a season that will pass. It's been a very long hard one and you've probably felt very alone many times but thre are many many out there suffering similar . Gez is working hard to help uncover pathways to help heal . Please try connecting with this yoga programme as it seems your spirit needs healing first before you can move forward with your body. Suzie Bolt is such a lovely person who will give you hope and following her protocol will enable you to heal. God bless.

👌🏻🔥Acceptance of my "temporary" current situation with long covid since 2020, I found myself relaxed and focu9o. That which has helped me to feel better and to stop comparing my now to how I used to be. Focusing on the NOW has been transforming emotionally AND I believe has aided in my recovery, slow but certainly making strides. Log every improvement no matter how tiny!!! This helps me to focus on gains and it feels great! I've been I'll since 2020. I have severe brain damage but if I'm healing, you will too! Gut detox has been most helpful and IF.
