Can you add a common Pleco fish to a koi pond?

Hey, was wondering if you were sold that as a common plec as it’s actually a mature bristlenose catfish, a type of pleco that is good for smaller aquariums as it does not grow as large as a common plec. A key way to tell is the common plec doesn’t have the bristles on the nose

Hi not that you mention it I did originally purchase it as a bristlenose but I had forgotten so I just called it a common in the video as I wasn’t to sure of what type it was

It's a bristle nose looks fully grown and they are cold water species so will be ok over the winter 👍

I had long fin catfish and about ten Common placos and tea Japanese catfish in my koi ponds

Guys pleckos are very cool creatures , the thing is yesterday I cleaned my tank and when I came with the brush there wasn't any algae of fungui in my tank he has eaten everything , btw my pleckos name is siphern

I have several bristlenose plecos in my pond. Bristlenose not common, that is a bristlenose they don't get big. my pond is heated to aboit 77f. I take them out through the winter tho. . never had a problem with them even had them breeding in there but I'd take the eggs out to prevent the koi eating them. Great idea tho

Hi Yes it is doing well it has put on a lot of size. I had to bring it inside during the winter as it got too cold but apart from that it is doing very well

I had 5 chinese alage eaters in my koi pond. The thing is once they get bit bigger, the like to latch on koi' body and this makes my kois splash around. So i ditch them. Literally.

That is not a common plecos that's a male bristlenose pleco. the biggest one i have is like 6in. Its probably 3 years old so probably full grown. So dont hsve to worry about it getting a foot long but it definitely will get bigger in thsy pond

Can they handle cold, cold cold weather like in the winter around 30°? 20° for a month

@@KingofHearts-xq5izThat's far too cold for them they come from The Amazon and wouldn't do well at 30°-20°. Best would be 68° plus 😁

@benevans5012 😂 yeah, I had to do some research. I got two heaters to set them at 70 during the winter time it goes to my wife’s Koi pond

One of The bn in my pond is approx 8" he's only 3 aswell. Still growing too
