Same here. I feel drawn to orthodoxy and Mahayana Buddhism so I practice both. I also practice from the Taoist tradition. I love all three traditions . ☦️☯️☸️

That is so so beautiful! Thomas Merton fully acknowledged the benefit of his dive into Buddhism ever enriching his Christianity. My girlfriend and I are currently doing a deep dive into John ODonohue and I feel he would also generously agree!

Thank you for this thoughtful video. A true Christian will naturally behave like a good Buddhist; they both have very similar qualities of humility, self-sacrifice, compassion, and love. Jesus is the easy-button for attaining those attributes because if He lives in your heart, you will simply become more and more like Him. ❤

Japanese people believe in both the indigenous Shinto religion and Buddhism from India. Furthermore, Japanese people hold Christian weddings in churches and also celebrate Halloween and Christmas. Japanese people can pray at a mosque without any problem if they want to. Buddhism and Shinto are polytheistic, so the gods of other religions can be considered as one among many. Therefore, Japanese people who believe in Buddhism and Shintoism can respect the gods of all religions. Because the gods of all religions are of the same class and should be respected, that is the Japanese way of thinking.

Nice to hear this from a western Christian. Here in Taiwan, I get very annoyed when I see Christian (almost always American) missionaries in my country actively trying to lure young people away from Dhamma, calling it “evil” and “demonic”, even once pointing at a blessed representation of the Tathagata in the actual temple and calling it an idol, in public, and rather loudly. I have resorted to extreme rudeness on more than one occasion, which is deeply against my nature and my beliefs. I wish more could be like you. Namo Buddhaya.

Having worked in the past with the occult and was channeling different gods and demons, none of them were like the Holy Spirit! Where there are gods for this and gods for that, Jesus Christ does it all. He is the only one I serve. One can tell that difference in the spirit once they live in alignment with the one true God and that can only be had by and through the blood of the Jesus Christ. You cannot serve 2 masters
@akungfujourney43837 ай бұрын
Buddhism does not teach about serving a master. Buddhism helps you expand your way of thinking about the world so you can understand why life is the way it is and helps you be more mindful and think more carefully about things which in turn helps reinforce Christian values and teachings. If you read the Bible and the teachings of Buddhism, and not go by what you THINK what Buddhism is, you'll realize they literally compliment the other.

When I was into new age practices the Buddha was often around. I wasn’t feeling good nor was I doing good, always longing. The moment I broke the strongholds that I was held in from serving Idol’s, peace came upon me like never before. Meditation couldn’t do that, Shaolin karate didn’t do it for me either. I caught demons by worshiping false idols and it was hard. That’s why I personally can say that I cannot serve 2 gods. Jesus is king

@lisahamrick5185 Well, it's a good thing Buddhism isn't a religion then. Maybe you were having those problems because you had a conflict within yourself, but believe what you want. There is no Masster/God in Buddhism. I'm not sure why you think that there is. Buddhism is older than Christianity. Did you know Christianity has some of the most judgmental people, even though it teaches/preaches not to judge? It has morei animosity within its own religion and has more than 45,000 different denominations within it as well, which is more than any other religion out there in the entire world. That's not even a united religion. It's definitely a divided one because even within its own religion, people can't decide which rules and customs to follow. Buddhism has 3 main sects/denominations and is known worldwide as one of if not the most peaceful religion out of all of them. The Bible talks about how you shouldn't argue about the Bible, yet that's one of the most known things Christians love to do is argue that the Bible is real and correct. I myself was raised from 1 year old in Christianity, and I saw its imperfections and contradicting teachings. Not to say Buddhism doesn't have that either, though, because it Mos certainly does, but Buddhism isn't a religion. It's a philosophy. That's why you can study it, and scientists can measure/quantify it. That's also why you can be both Christian and Buddhist because the values and teachings are essentially the same. Christianity tells you what to do, but now how to do it; Buddhism teaches you how to do it part, which in turn helps you be a better Christian. Meditation is prayer, and prayer is meditation. You are literally doing the same thing in both; focusing on something/someone to help you be a better person. 😊

@@lisahamrick5185Buddha is not god or an idol, he is a teacher. The Buddha statue is like the cross in Christianity. The cross isn’t god, it represents Christianity like how Buddha represents Buddhism.

Thich Nhat Hanh a great buddhist zen teacher said, "It would be a shame if a Buddhist only loved and practiced Buddhism. It would be a shame if a Christian only loved and practiced Christianity." Philosophy doesn't have to be in competition with your spiritual practices and other spiritual practices dont necessarily have to be in competition with one another. This is dualistic thinking. The west lost its contemplative and mystical practices, it burned them as heretics. Western Christianity has absorbed and become one with the vices of empire, dogma and institutions, which Jesus spoke against many times.

Lovely video thank you for sharing. Buddhist practices can help anyone in their spiritual development whether that’s Christian or anything else. Practices which increase compassion and awareness for example. There is a part of the journey where the paths are in the same direction but there are some key differences that will cause a divergence. For example Buddhism doesn’t have the idea of an external God. Rather there is an emphasis on oneness, connectedness (which also exists in some forms of Christianity). There is the idea in Buddhism that there is no fixed “self” which leads to dissolving the walls of ego that we construct and connecting with others- which has similarities with trusting in God, letting go- though there are some differences. It’s hard enough for people in the modern world of social media, tv, consumerism etc to follow a spiritual journey, to be kind, to be compassionate, to be happy in the happiness of others, to have equanimity without it being detachment (Buddhism isn’t about separation/detachment - it’s equanimity). Rather than using differences to lead to hardening, to separation, it can help to be aware of differences, without judging- to be aware of similarities, what we have in common, and to practice what is helpful and nourishing to oneself and others.

No you can’t . God hates it when we practice and worship like other religions. It’s literally what most of the Old Testament talks about. You can say all you like but you don’t know Jesus very well if this is your conclusion. Those of you reading this who know that you know you belong to God and love him and honor him, DO NOT DO THIS. This breaks our covenant and violates the commandments.

@@wordscapes5690it’s what happens when you don’t control your ego. Many Christians fear hell and are greedy about heaven. They lack true faith in God because they don’t love Jesus enough to trust him. I know God is greater than any Christian’s view of what God is. Never forget that our species crucified Jesus. Studying Buddha can make you a better Christian. Loving Christ can make you a better Buddhist.
