Agree, always snipe the statues to surprise the Beholder. If your sniping character is high level enough in hiding the Beholder would probably be confuse enough for a few more hits before it figure out (and die) where its coming from.

you can also cast shadows and hid in them if you sneak into the battle

You can place a box by a window in the selenite outpost and shoot the beholder from there, it won't attack back either. Easy beholder kill.

For those who wanna help Isobel in honor mode find a scroll of Feign death and cast sanctuary on her. Both of these spells do not cost concentration and stops Isobel having a awkward reunion with her father once more. Or... Just dont ever visit her. This works too btw lmao.

The Thorm family? Okay, let's roll a 20 on History. Here we go. Ketheric Thorm, devoted cleric of Selûne, and his wife Melodia ruled over the major trade village of Reithwyn. The Thorm family employed Thisobald as an alchemist and moonshiner who ran the local brewery; Malus employed as the lead surgeon of the local hospital; and Gerringothe employed as the tax collector and tollhouse master. These three are either siblings of Ketheric and/or Melodia, but we never get an exact answer the family relation. Ketheric and Melodia have a daughter named Isobel, and turn the village into such a paradise for Selûne that it attracts the attention of the goddess herself whom sends her daughter, the assimar Aylin, to be protector of Reithwyn and the Thorm family. Aylin eventually becomes Isobel's lover. Shar becomes jealous and curses the area with shadow. This curse kills Melodia, somehow (we don't know the details) also involving the spirit of the forest Thaniel and the archdruid Halsin in her death. Ketheric's faith saves him and Aylin protects Isobel, however the grief at the loss of her mother causes Isobel to fall to the curse and die. Ketheric, in his grief and rage, turns from Selûne and embraces Shar. We're not sure the exact fates of every member of the extended Thorm family, but we do know those that survived the shadow curse and refused to embrace Shar were slain by Ketheric. The dead Thorm members were placed in the family catacombs. This is where Gerringothe, Malus, and Thisobald were lain to rest alongside Isobel and Melodia. Ketheric then goes on to turn Reithwyn into a haven for Shar worshippers and a training ground for the Dark Justiciar, even going as far as converting his family catacombs into the main training facility to prove his faith to Shar. Ketheric directs his hatred for Selûne onto Aylin, Imprisoning the aasimar in the Shadowfell as tribute to Shar, killing the immortal countless times. Shar blesses Ketheric with immortality by redirecting all injuries Ketheric suffers to Aylin. It is around this time a necromancer named Balthazar steps into the picture and offers to help Ketheric restore life to his family if he turns from Shar. Ketheric refuses at first until a group of Harpers led by Jaheira attack Ketheric in Selûne's name. This war ends up expanding past Reithwyn and across the Sword Coast. The war swings in favor of the Harpers as they kill Ketheric and rout the Dark Justiciar. However, as we all know, death doesn't stick for Ketheric. It is during this war Raphael steps in with a contract for the devil Yurgir to slay every Dark Justiciar. We don't know exactly what Raphael's part in all this is, but it does leave Yurgir trapped in Shar's Gauntlet. It is around this time that the necromancer Balthazar appears and makes a deal with Ketheric: abandon Shar and become the chosen of Myrkul in the name of The Absolute and he will bring Isobel back to life. Ketheric abandons Shar for Myrkul, isolating himself in Moonrise as he loses her protection from the shadow curse. Balthazar experiments on the corpses of Gerringothe, Malus, Thisobald, and countless others to master the shadow curse to ensure he honors his agreement. With his knowledge he brings Isobel back to life 100 years after her death. Isobel renounces her father and leaves Reithwyn only to find the remaining Harpers in the region held up in Last Light Inn. Isobel calls on Selûne and turns the inn into a single sanctuary against the shadow curse. This leads up to the events of BG3 where Ketheric is now raising an army in the name of the Absolute. There are a lot more little details (basically everything and everyone in or even tangentially related to Act 2 is all about telling this history), but this covers the main points.

You can skip Ketheric's entire first phase by succeeding the "you can be saved" checks when you first fight him, and then succeeding another check when initiating the second fight with him.

Malus is his uncle , Gerringothe is probably his cousin since she calls him by his first name and its unclear what Thisobald is to him (he calls Ketheric father but ketheric does not seem to have any children other than Isobel so the theory is that he was created by Balthazar)

Multiclass suggestion - get 6 levels in cleric to get two uses of destructive wrath. Then take one level of wizard when you get to level 11/12, and scribe chain lightning into your spellbook, then you can use your 1 wizard prepared spell to be able to cast chain lightning, even though you're only max level 5-6 in any class. I ran 5 sorcerer/6 cleric/1 wizard and it was an absolute blast I'm sure you know about markoheshkir in act 3, but in the basement of the stormshore tabernacle there's an amulet that gives you a third use of channel divinity which slaps

1. you can wait to set the tieflings and gnomes free until you've already cleared the prison. my favorite tactic for that involves beelining to the warden's office, closing the doors of it, and killing her off solo while she's inside (plus any scrying eyes that come in to say hello). if there are no witnesses (which there shouldn't be with the doors closed) then you can go on killing guards one or two at a time because none of them will be able to alert the warden and trigger aggroing the whole building. 2. if you do this with a dragonborn dragonsorc you can find a potion that'll boost the elemental affinity of your chosen element even further and give you a major damage buff with that element. i don't actually know where my roommate found it but we also ended up using it to nuke myrkul in basically the same way (but with fire) 3. there are even more tadpoles to slurp in a zhentarim box on the docks outside the prison level near the back entrance to moonrise. tasty! 4. in the MEAT CAVES beneath moonrise before you get to thorm there's a path tucked away where you can get another permanent buff by talking to a brain in a jar, AKA githzerai mind barrier. it's not quite relevant in this stage but it gives you permanent advantage on int saving throws

This video has to be ancient... There are no longer any infinite rests at the ketheric fight, and Wall of Stone has been unable to be cast in the Halsin quest since before even patch three or four, If I remember right. I hope the bell trick still works though. Great vid my man.

I accidentally came cross this interaction when I preemptively cast hunger if hadar where I knew the spectator would show up hoping it would damage him some and mess with his being able to hit me, he flew right out of it but I skipped the surprise round so I guess it worked similar to how darkness would.

Everytime I've rescued the tieflings from moonrise, they'll always run toward to the enemies and die. I found that if you just activate the boat before they get killed they'll just teleport into and travel away with you

I have been playing my own challenge run where I try to beat the game at lvl 1 on tactician! I have just reached Myrkul and I don’t think I’ll be oneshoting him any time soon. Playing on lvl has some very funny interactions as well. For instance, my wizard is the healer, and Lae’zel (yes I have a 4 person party) deals an average of 24 damage per hit! I also had a funny build on Shadowheart before I freed nightsong where she was applying 4 turns of radiant orb on every single melee attack! That was stupidly op and made up for my party only having an average of 9 hp without aid! Cheers!!!

How to not get surprised by the spectator in the underdark: Attack one of his petrified friends from afar. This way the Spectator will appear without surprising anyone. Tried this with eldritch blast in my last playthrough and it worked.

Fun fact about the prison break out before you give the hammer to them to break out block the levers that allow them to open the cells and attack them by putting barrels in there way this way if the cell door dont open they have all the time to break them out
