there are also pistols and sledge hammers in ascent if you look in all the lockers where you kill all the nullbodys you will find a sledge hammer and a pistol that has a scope

Guns can kill the metal skeletons, but it takes forever (I've played with the spawn gun quite a bit). It is quicker to beat them with something (rifle or shotgun works), or slam them into stuff. The latter method is much easier against just one. I've found that sprinting at an enemy and jumping on them, grabbing them when you connect, will usually bring them to the ground. Then you can grab the head and bang it against the ground, twisting, wrenching, whatever you feel is most damaging. It's better from behind, as they're less likely to hit you with their flailing, but you can always use your free hand to hold their closest one back..."quit hitting yourself," hehe. I don't know if I've ever done this with a peasant, but I have with the fast avatar, and she's not terribly strong.

No matter how weak your peasant is, you can still shove to drag people around, so you could just push the metal skeleton into the lava pits

Well, I mean, if you approach a shotgun like in typical Arcadey shooters, you try your best to constantly top it up instead of ever running the tube empty. But fair enough if you'd rather spend less time doing short reloads and more time emptying into Nullbodies

In ascent you dont need to do that complicated of an action to get and place the battery, just climb up the tube under it, you can grab it
