Can You Beat Borderlands 2 With ONLY The Elephant Gun?

Is it possible to beat Borderlands 2 with ONLY The Elephant Gun? What if we tried it on OP10? What if we did it with pretty much no health or shield too? Borderlands, Borderlands 2, Borderlands the Pre-sequel, and Borderlands 3 all have guns that can get pretty wacky, but wacky doesn't always mean good. In this challenge run, we try to beat the game with a gun hated by large numbers of people!

The Elephant Gun is fun and a nightmare at the same time. Congrats on finishing the run. Also, many crashes are from slag particles. Capping your framerate and not using PhysX will massively reduce memory crashes.

It can be used but it is super inaccurate and just not balanced for UVHM. If you get one in normal mode it’s kinda fun.

The rarest gun in the game even sucks. The cobra I think is there just for the unique part of it. Most rare drop. I Also recently got a 94% sham and I was happy but now my last farm is cobra

A lot of guns have such a short window of viability. If a gun is Balance through level 50 but you can get it until level 47 you don’t have a lot of time to use it which sucks.

I had PhysX set to max and my frame rate set to no cap. Problem has been fixed 👍

Fun fact about the fridge; You don't HAVE to go there to continue the story. There's no mandatory waypoint to hit there.

​​@@danielsurvivor1372 if you enter and open the first door of the fridge (i think thats needed) the highlands entrance in the dust opens up and you can just go to the end point of the fridge through it. Adding an edit that i just remembered. If it doesnt register i think you might have to enter the highlands entrance to the fridge and exit to load the cutscene where sanctuary appears in the sky.

I was sitting at work and suddenly came up with two ideas for a challenges: One; Beating BL2 but you get weaker. As in, you need to respec at some points of the game, so you face Handsome Jack with just your action skill, Two: Beating BL2, but you only do kills that you absolutely need to progress.

@@LilGasmask If I can give a recommendation for the next gun. Try the Evil Smasher or Badaboom next. It'd also be a good idea to make a pattern for the runs. Something like Bad, Bad, Good, Bad, Bad, Good or Bad, Good, Bad, Good. That way there can be a sense of relief and some fun. Just so you won't get tired of it.

You can aleviate most OOM errors by disabling PhysX or setting it to Low. The Preserve, the Arid Badlands, and the Bloodshot Stronghold have an ungodly amount of PhysX materials; making those areas next to impossible to get through without at least 1 crash on PhysX High

It also works fine without the UHD texture pack (since you have more wiggle room for VRAM that way). Pretty bad oversight by Gearbox...

Since I'm not good enough at the game to tackle UVHM or OP levels, I've been inspired to put my own twist on a run like this. Sir Hammerlock's weapons, Rough Rider, Jakobs only Zer0 (which means no grenade), and slowly work my way from a fresh save. Scaling my equipment to my level once every 5 levels. Wish me luck!

boderlands 2 does need a remaster and i think they do great with a type of arms race mode. remasters are good but they never add to the game they are remastering because they are afraid to experiment or change too much of the formula. but if they add new game modes or new dlc items or lore. would be cool if we find out lines of kreig and maya hanging out or traveling together in the story. like we know they are playing the story but it be awesome if they added hidden interactions within that story. like a story of them drinking and talking about killing how they fought a raid boss or gaige talking sending a message to her dad.

I also really like arms race’s concept. Made you utilize everything in order to win. Speaking of, i sometimes play a custom BL2 game mode on stream where a few players drop into a map with nothing and we turn team attack on and fight. It’s really cool too with mods that make anything obtainable from world drops. (Like a seraph in a bone pile).

*Cheering.* That was fantastic. My last Jackenstein kill was with the EG, although that was only on OP5, and it wasn't the first time I've killed him with the Elephant Gun either, so it wasn't so hard for me. The EG is definitely a gun which rewards practice, though. Keep persevering with it!

I never played any Kirby Games, and i didnt realize that your earlier videos used that as the censor sound. Crazy how much people in the comments dislike it, and think it's hentai sounds. Those baby turrets are weirdly immune to splash damage, iirc. Which might explain why your normal grenades and maybe kunai weren't slagging (idk if kunai effect counts as splash), but your transfusions worked, since they're projectiles, not splash. Also ION loaders are both tactical geniuses and far too tanky for what they are. Even with thousands of hours in BL2 my most common deaths are ION loaders either creating perfectly unkillable shield walls for other loaders, or being placed so perfectly that even if I try to get past them they can just clip and taze me with the shield enough to down me. It's not wonder the shielding robots in BL3 have it so damage to the shield damages them directly.

the trick to using the elephant gun is to put a dot of white out on your monitor right where the crosshair is, now when you ADS its like having a red dot
