Just my opinion here... But all the Borderlands games feel extremely flawed in many ways, but to their credit, MOST games are, yet they're still loved, and worth a play! BL1 felt like a tech demo but was an amazing concept! BL2 had truck tons of content but the humor can be very hit or miss, with a pretty average story, with some very solid high points with Jack, DLC, etc. Pre-Sequel, slow intro and boring environments, but really compelling lore and unique innovations that make it a very refreshing change of pace (Plus JACK!) It really felt like a passion project by the Aussie studio, a "We had fun making this" vibe to it BL3...... Yeeeeeeeeeeah..........

I´ll give the haters this one thing: I quit my first playthrough about one third into the story years ago. The first parts of the game ARE mostly mediocre. Environments and all that australian stuff weren´t really my cuppa. But when I replayed it again, I was actually surprised how compelling the story, writing and characters could be once I got further into the game. I know, the first few chapters of the game aren´t really the best impression you´ll get as a BL2 fan, but I´ll dare say that I actually enjoyed the game from Chapter 6 (Let´s Build A Robot Army) all the way till the end maybe even more so than BL2. And BL2 is one of my favorite games of all time. In comparison BL3 was such a huge disappointment in any aspect besides gunplay and graphics. In my opinion BL3 deserves a lot more shit than this game does.

Personally, I like Borderlands the Pre-Sequel just the smallest bit more than Borderlands 2. This is probably due to Elpis's gravity being lower than Pandora's and doing sick tricks that couldn't be done in 2 is pretty fun. Also the action skills of the Vault Hunters in the Pre-Sequel are better than 2's Vault Hunters' action skills.
