@@bobthegamingtaco6073 well we can assume there is more magic then just "ammo", the barrels never get hot, the rifling never gets damaged, the mechanical parts never jam and never break. lots and lots of physical-magic going on. also the 15th century gatling gun was more akin to have a gun with multiple barrels then anything like the original gatling gun. fun fact: the biggest limitation to creating a gatling gun was the bullet cartridge and that was only invented 15 years before the gatling gun was made.

@@l.migu31 They are similiar but Castlevania (both Classic and IGA Style) are still fundamentally different in both Design Philosophy and general style. Castlevania is closer to an actionized JRPG with exploration elements, a slower pace and generally more combat oriented. Also while the castle itself tends to be pretty big, ultimately there is still a rather rigid throughline without the use of glitches most of the time. Metroid is closer to an action exploration game without any of the RPG style choices and far less combat heavy (compare amount of bosses between games for example). Plus older ones tend to be Sequence Break haven.

It feels kinda silly that bosses even have resistances to the gatling gun anyway considering how hard it is to get and how unwieldly it is to use despite the DPS it can achieve, so including the Innocent Devils feels like a completely acceptable compromise.

This is why I love this game's version of Hector compared to the netflix series, Hector is smart enough of a devil forgemaster to make things that're ridiculously advanced compared to the time period he's in, with materials that are sometimes demonic or otherworldly in nature. For the Pumpkin Innocent Devils each Generation has +1 to All Base Stats compared to Its Parent Generation; so if you are willing to just Level Them until they Drop an Innocent Devil Egg and then Hatch the Egg and Repeat; you will Eventually get one with All Base Stats at the Maximum Possible Stats.

The Best Possible Pumpkin ID you can make will have 131 HP, 117 atk and mag and def, 177 agl, and will add +70 to Hector's STR, +22 to Hector's CON, and +55 to Hector's LCK. You will get those stats if you only use lv99 devil shards at the 3rd generation, and if you got another lv99 shard and went to lv99 for the 4th gen it would have the same stats.

@cps1247 The slow walking speed is absolutely an issue. A mod to boost running speed would iron out almost every issue this game has. The lacking aerial combat is less an issue with the air combos themselves and more about flying enemies being so mobile. Locking them down to get any hits in can be a chore, but IDs can mitigate that almost entirely. Buffing movement speed in the air would more easily allow aerial approach instead of basically needing to jump right in front of a moving air target. Repeated dodge rolls speed movement up a bit, and Trevor's hit-hit-special finisher with a dodge roll animation cancel at the end speeds things up a fair amount, but these are exhausting to do constantly and the timing of the former is extremely strict when trying to make it efficient.

little thing most people don't know about this game is that if you perfect guard an attack your innocent devils recover HP, you can even revive your innocent devils this way. Probably would of saved alot of frustration of them dying all the time. The perfect guard also cancels ANY action you are currently doing, as long as you are successful. Another thing about the perfect guard is that it allows you block in the air, something you normally can't do. The perfect guard in this game is NUTS, it's almost broken if it weren't the timing it requires to pull off.

It's not the hardest weapon to craft. Death's Scythe is, because you need a Death Fragment, only obtainable by stealing from Death. His steal window is ludicrously small, and comes in the frames directly after his ultimate attack which explodes the entire screen. You basically need to use the Devil type's portal to hide right next to him, get out of portal form in the few frames after the blast but before the window to steal closes, then steal. It is extremely difficult to do consistently.

I don't think the Megingjord/Megingelos being able to raise the Gatling Gun's normally fixed damage is an oversight. Rather, I suspect it works similar to the Red Tearstone Ring from the Souls games: directly raising all damage you deal by a flat percentage instead of increasing your stats like other equipment.

In Curse of Darkness the greatest effect you can get from the Megingelos is when you have 999 max HP and let Hector's HP get to below 9 (8 or less HP remaining)

Impractical as it is, the Gatling gun looks really fun to use. A case where the limitations add to the fun-more so the delay in pulling it out, not so much the lack of aerial coverage-where part of using it is getting into a safe position to pull it out in the first place, with great reward for finding it. Reminds me of using Baal’s poison rain in Bayonetta 3, used that all the damn time.

You absolutely must use the Fairy's Unlock to get Dragon Crest, Battle ID's Brute Force to Open the Aqueduct and Dracula's Castle, Devil's M. Circle to get through Dracula's Castle, and a human probably needs Mage's Time Stop to enter the Machine Tower. Any place where you would need Glide there is a glitch that let's you not have to use it.

But all damage done to enemies must be from Hector's fists unless a ranged ID is absolutely required. Like Dracula's second form or phase.

@@S0renz True Dracula backs up from the platform, but he always comes back to it... He usually does 1 of 3 attacks then 1 or 2 ways to come back to where the platform is. I think you can punch dracula as long as he is close to the platform, but I'm not sure if it is hard to hit him or not. I'm pretty sure you only would do like 1 damage per hit though and I believe he has 7500 HP.

You can get on the wyvern's back while it plants its head into the ground, it will start flying around and you can have a bunch of free hits, i don't know if the minigun can hit it whilst you're in the air tho

I think the mini gun deals flat damage then the item boosts the damage by a flat rate so it applies. Also if there are any items that reduce enemy defense that may increase your damage but I've never played this game so I am probably wrong.

Its been a hot minute since i've done a full playthrough but i'm fairly sure you can get another attempt at the boss steals. The catch being its in boss rush and if you fail to win the rush you lose whatever you stole and have to start back over

wow, dark souls took a lot more from other series than i thought. fron the weird cage elevators to even some similar looking enemy designs (first boss looks like the iron golem for example)

Have you heard of demon's souls? The iron golem is pretty similar to the tower knight. The souls series combat is also pretty similar to classic monster hunter

Yeah, and don't forget the level design that's literally Metroidvania in 3D, the deliberate combat where you can't get stunlocked by attacks, very reminiscent of classic Castlevanias , and not to mention that Simon's Quest did the "toxic swamp area that slows down you movement" all the way back in 1986

Fun tip for yall: Use the proboscis fairy bomb on Dracula and Nuculais/Legion It deals so much damage, but since it's fixed % based it gets weaker

god i fucking love curse of darkness so much. really wish it got remade with more content, more postgame content, maybe another tier of familar, andother weapon type or two, and a few more white (weird) weapons. also would kinda like a devil rebirth mechanic, to reset their level and maybe carry over a skill or two, for a boost in stats, that way you don't need like 3 battle types to do all the battle type moves. easily one of the best 3d castlevania titles, that wasn't trying to be dmc/gow ish

The way i see it; The gatling gun could, theoretically, defeat every boss given enough time. Thus, the Innocent Devils speeding up the time spent is allowed, because it is possible
