Fallout 4’s weapon modification system is a vast improvement over what was offered in Fallout 3 and New Vegas. But I always thought that some of the weapons felt too similar, like the Combat Rifle and Combat Shotgun. There is a way to avoid that problem, though. Can You Beat Fallout 4 By Only Using Each Weapon Once? (in text form)
This run requires a bit more explanation than some of my previous challenges. The general idea is that you can only get a single kill with a weapon, and then you can never use that weapon again. And by “weapon”, what I mean is the… platform, I guess. The Deliverer and a normal Suppressed 10mm Pistol are both 10mm Pistols, so I can only use one of them. Variants and modifications don’t change what the weapon is.
Standard firearms will operate as previously described. It doesn’t matter if it takes 500 shots from a Mini-Gun to kill a Deathclaw or if it takes one to kill a Radroach, after I get a kill with it, it might as well not exist. Melee and unarmed weapons work the same way; one kill. Explosive weapons are different, they have an area of effect. So instead of one kill, I get one shot. I can throw 1 Frag Grenade, I can fire the Fat Man one time, I can use 1 Cryo Mine, you get the idea.
Understand the rules? No? Too bad, we’re moving forwards anyway. Because we’ll be using every sort of weapon available, SPECIAL isn’t all that important. I put 6 points into Intelligence to level up faster, and just sorta spread out the rest somewhat evenly. Then Atom bestowed on mankind a small fraction of his love and power, Nate died, and I emerged from my frozen slumber. From here on out, every enemy encounter requires thought and planning. I can’t just kill every enemy I see because I’d have no weapons left for the end-game. Luckily, you can escape Vault 111 without killing any of the Radroaches by trapping them behind the sliding doors.
Into the Wasteland, my first stop was Sanctuary to put another point into Intelligence, talk to Codsworth, and get him to kill all the Bloatflies pestering the neighborhood. I passed by Red Rocket Truck Stop, looted some stuff, and ignored Dogmeat because using a companion would take some of the challenge away. In Concord, I sat back and waited for Preston to kill the Raiders attempting to get into the Museum of Freedom. After waiting for about 11 seconds, I got bored and started attacking them myself. I used my fist to kill one Raider and got a Switchblade from him. By the time I was done fisting the Raider, Preston had dealt with the others.
I tried to skip part of this quest by jumping from the roof of a church to the crashed Vertibird atop the Museum of Freedom. But I forgot that there’s another door between the door to the roof and where the Minute Men are hiding. So I waited for a while. I sat there, motionless, like a lamp, for about 6 minutes. Turns out Preston truly is worthless, because I did more with one Moltov Cocktail in a few seconds than he did with a Laser Musket in several minutes. I then used a Switchblade to kill one Raider, Brass Knuckles to kill another, a Tire Iron to kill a third, and I finished clearing the building with a Security Baton.

Many weapons require killing enemies or completing quests that require killing enemies (power fist, the broadsider, the alien pistol) or require you to be at a high enough level (gauss rifle, plasma gun) so it would be unfeasible to get them. That said, there were weapons he could've gotten (unless he did use these and I just missed that): the junk jet (can be gotten without killing by letting Danse do all the killing), gamma gun (the Cabot house has one lying on a table, you can steal it after accepting the first quest without needing to kill anyone) and the Kremvh's tooth (lots of running past enemies so arguably not worth it, but possible to get without killing anyone). Also the Deliverer is a unique weapon from the 10mm pistol just like the Swatter is from the baseball bat so by his own rules he could've used that. And he wasted a hellova lot of weapons in the museum of freedom for no reason since he didn't need the minutemen for anything

@@Yes_This_Is_Dog Gatling laser is a high level weapon, you need to be level 30 or something to get it which he couldn't do because he gained too little xp, and I'm pretty sure he used the laser gun in the video (laser rifle and laser pistol are the same gun with just a different stock in Fallout 4 so he could only use one or the other)

Yes. It's definitely a unique weapon, it won't accept 10mm mods and it uses less AP in VATS. If the Swatter is considered a unique weapon, so should the Deliverer

way to few weapons fist, dagger, sword, axe, greatsword, greataxe, greathammer, bow, crossbow, fork and then we come to magic/shouts which are a bit more dificult to classify... do the shots to call down anduin count? would damaging shouts count like grenades in this one? and each spell category once (aka all three projectile spells count as one type regardles of element (same with beam and glyph and all the other sets) its been to long since i actually played the game so i cant remember all teh diferent types of spells but i would guess that you would get to roughly ~20 ish different weapons...

At 2:40. Preston is actually programmed not to do damage to the enemies in the museum. He keeps their attention by firing to give you movement opportunity. Otherwise it's a glitch, but it's been a consistent one if that's the case.

Well, since my first idea made it into a playthrough, I have another idea: Beat Fallout 3/NV as a Hoarder You must pick up EVERYTHING you encounter. Any room you enter must be looted of every weapon, piece of armour, every bullet and every junk item. Every enemy must be looted entirely, all containers must be emptied and every little scrap must be picked up. You CANNOT do this challenge in Fallout 4, as you could just scrap all your junk and use it for weapon mods. You also can't put any loot back in a container, sell anything or give it to a companion to carry. Once you step into a room or an interior cell, all of the loot from that room must stay in your inventory for the rest of the game. You may make it as relaxed as any room you enter must be looted, or it's every building you discover needs to be looted. Whatever the case is, I hope you brought a large enough backpack! Basically beat the game while over-encumbered CONSTANTLY

For the first play through, probably. It would take forever, but if you rely on skills you could pull it off. UVHM has health regen though (IIRC), so you wouldn’t be able to damage anything no matter how many bullets you threw at them.
