No money cost plants and to make sure you need to beat every level without one plant being eaten and you need to be careful about the gargantuan so as if any levels that only feature the explosive plants means you’ll have to use your powers and plant food as you get an amounts worth worth of coins so if you run out of coins then your challenge is a bust and that means it but every world has a different feature and where you have to take on Dr Zomboss 13 times instead of one and when you get to modern day there are free zombies levels and they’re all random so so if you got that world with that zombot then the plants from the next world are what you will take defeat them boss all 13 times in all 11 worlds that your challenge is a success. Plus: You can bring in features from the last game so grave buster tangle kelp and other undamaged plants don’t count as taking damage good for you. So can you beat me challenge

About Hypno-Shroom at 15:26 : In nature, there's a fungus called "Ophiocordyceps unilateralis" from the Cordyceps genus, AKA "that one fungus that infects ants' brains and mind controlls them so it can spread its spores". This fungus has to be eaten by ants in order to infect them, so I think it's safe to say Hypno-shroom works similarily.

You actually CAN use "save states" in the PC version, although it's a little more complicated. Whenever you quit a level midway through and then go back into the level, the game will ask if you would like to continue from where you left off. So if you go into the files, copy your save and put it somewhere else for safe keeping, you can continue from that point. Then if the RNG isn't good, you can insert a copy of the save back into the files and continue from there again. It's essentially save states with a bit more work It's probably not exactly this, but that's basically the gist of it

I would argue that some things can be allowed. To be avoided, perhaps, just due to it being a challenge run, but not run-breaking. The reason you stated for the run was so your character can eat the plants between waves. The shovel is just a more efficient method of moving them from the lawn to your dinner plate. So efficient, in fact, that you can now move them without being threatened by the zombies, which is why the shovel is available during the levels. The self-detonating plants are tricky. Unlike the Grave Buster, which definitely just leaves afterwards, Cherry Bomb's almanac entry says that they not only explode, but want to do so. Jalapeno has a similar entry. You could argue that you're choosing to help them fulfill their lifelong ambitions instead of eating them and ensuring they don't get eaten by zombies before they can do so.

Heck’s for two flags before sending a zombie down a lane that just lost its lawnmower but the Zomboss fight doesn’t have flags so once you lose a mower no zombies will spawn unless you put a plant in the way

I agree that Squash squashing a zombie normally should not count as it dying or taking damage, however allowing this girthful gourd to dive directly into deep pool water just to squash a zombie is undoubtably an act of kamikaze.. you never see Squash emerge safely out of the water and it’s safe to assume that his plump limbless body would be unable perform any act of swimming.. and keep in mind this is no regular water, no. This is chlorine drenched nasty pool water, which to a plant would be the equivalent to a bath of poison, meaning that even if our body slamming boi the Squash was able to swim he’d be severely poisoned by the time he’d make it out the water. In conclusion, you have not just failed this challenge, you have sent multiple loyal Squash straight to their watery poisonous graves, and no less in your very own swimming pool..

not all pools are chlorinated, some use salt instead. the lilly pads and kelp seem to have no issue surviving in it, so id say that the pool is probably salted instead. plants dont need to breathe nearly as much as humans do, so i imagine he can hold his breath for a few minutes and get recovered after the end of the level

Planturn is even more useless than you would think in the vanilla game. His gimmick - being able to light up the fog - isn't even exclusive to him. Torchwood can do Planturn's job of clearing the fog, AND ignite peas.

In fact, saving in the middle of the level can also be done in the computer version,when you exit the level, your progress on it is automatically saved and you can just create a backup copy of the save file from the save folder and then reload it as much as your heart desires without fear that you "overwrite" a good attempt at an unsuccessful moment

There are some plants that explode to spread there seeds/spores. And with the snow flake effect happening for the ice shroom, one could infer that it’s actually just going into the next stage of its life cycle and that the zombies just so happen to be affected by the spores in some way.

How conveyors work as long as its catalogue is 3+ unique plants: If there are 3+ of the same plant type on the belt, the probability of that plant showing up again decreases drastically 4/7 seeds on the belt will slow seed generation down additionally

You can beat 5-10 with one single pot. There are tutorials online but the idea is that once zombies hit the mowers they don’t show up on those lanes until all the mowers are gone so leaving 4 lanes to focus on one allows you to spam instants, making it much easier.

You should have put sunflowers on the second row, you can't take damage so it's not like you need them on the back to protect them. That way you could have put squashes on the back row or snow peas on the back row to stop the bungee zombies regardless of where they were.

I think the save scumming would have been a lot harder on GOTY but seeing you deal with glitches and problems that I haven't seen in my 10+ years of enjoying this game just sorta made me cringe lol. The phone version is just so bad comparably, aside from a few small QoL things. So basically I'm sorry you had to deal with that, it looked painful.
