A lot of it just has to do with Jotho being terrible for grass pokemon. Introduce bulbasaur in gen 2 and it will struggle as well.

See. Meganium is my favorite Pokémon of all time. And even bayleef is super defensive. Especially with Reflect. My favorite starter ever. Johto in general is just terrible for grass types. Any grass type would struggle not just chikorita. But u still choose it every time. There's a way around the weaknesses. Those who say chikorita is horrible just are impatient.

The problem with Chikorita is that it's very defensive. It's easy to splash into almost any team and can work for tanking with Synthesis, access to dual screens, poison, and some hard hitting moves. But without the rest of a team to provide some offense, it highlights its weaknesses.

I get that this is the name everyone agreed on for these types of challenges but the question of "can" has been answered and it's yes outside of potentially unown tier garbage and even then there may be a way. the more accurate title would be something like "how easily can you beat pokemon (version) using only (pokemon)" I'm not detracting from this or any other 1 pokemon challenge it's just a growing pet peeve of mine also Jrose's is only 50 some parts instead of 150 since legendaries are pointless and if you do it with the base form of a mon then you can do it with the evolved forms so making this a 386 part series is just making unnecessary or at least redundant work though that could be said about doing these challenges in the first place... that good vid and i'm curious how this unfolds

The rival cheated in this game. Pidgeot and Charizard both don't know Aerial Ace by level up or egg moves and aren't in the same egg groups. You can not get 2 Aerial Ace TMs

No it isn’t. It’s just bad I’m Johto. All grass types don’t do good there. But if chikarita was a start in saaaaaaaaay Kanto. It would Fantastic For all except for 2 gym leaders. It has the right stats and moves to make it a great stally cleric on the Team.

The main problem I have with Chikorita/Meganium is that it’s a ”bulky” grass type. Since grass has so many weakness, this doesn’t really seem ideal to me. For example, water only has 2 weaknesses, so it seems more natural to have a bulky water type (I’m thinking of Blastoise in particular). I do however agree Chikorita/Meganium would do better in Kanto than Johto. And BTW, I think Bulbasaur and Venusaur look a lot better than Chikorita and Meganium ;)

It’s great for Vileplume in this game. Has chlorophyll so it boosts its speed, has one turn solar beams, and heals more from moonlight. Makes it a decent sweeper.

frlg is way harder than gen 1. no badge boosts. no badge boost glitch. better ai. intimidate and other abilities. i doubt any little cup pokemon can beat it minimum battles. fwiw i think there's value in caring about how easy grinding is in terms of tiering the pokemon.

Hey man, love that you do this challenge in the gen3 games :D Although I have a few pointers, if you want to hear: 1: There have been so many challenges lately, that you basically can defeat every game, with every pokemon, or at least get real close. The challenge is fun, but I have a feeling that you have to seperate yourself from the rest. (For example, Jrose tries to be as fast as possible, with the most minimalistic and least rng possible) 2: It might be a fun idea to beat the game, on a lower level then 100. Although I have to admit, post game content is brutal. Especially the final rival battle. But that is waht makes these things exciting. 3: More of a suggestion for your sake. If you already can hack the game, why not hack 2 mons in at Lv 1 with al hm's? Maybe even a third with dig or something? Saves a lot of time and effort, and I personally think nobody cares of Lv 1 mons. Maybe you could even name them after your patrons or commenters. Best of luck reaching your goal and have fun with these challenges, I am looking forward to them :D

The answer is ALWAYS yes. Unless its gen one and even then only ghosts or a handful of pokeymen like weedlord. Can you is overplayed and tedious. Figuring out something that cant win and seeing how far you can get is the next norm. And yknow, run all of an evolution at once, reload after each win and walk through walls. See what the level disparity is by the end
