It couldn't be Frozen because the Sleep Clause affect freeze status to basically what that means is only one person can be asleep or frozen so one Pokemon can be asleep and another can be frozen but two cannot be asleep and two cannot be frozen

For these challenges, if stadium 1 has similar logic to stadium 2, the other pokemon in your party influence what they pick. That could be a good strategy for messing with the logic if you're worried about certain pokemon like Dugtrio.

AI in stadium 2 also knows which moves you have, even down to which hidden power you are running, a bit silly, but it is what it is.

If you want an actual challenge do it on the Switch version of Pokémon Stadium. I have played it myself but I’ve heard Nintendo decided to remove the Transfer pack Feature from the Switch version.

Explosion is underrated, its your best play against psychic types and chansey. Enjoyed watching it though, and you are quite right, substitute is amazing.

You probably already knew this but depending on what nickname you give your pokemon they might have an alternate color for example naming Mewtwo twomew or mew-two gives diff colors

I find it funny to read some of the chat messages. One of them said "good old gen 1, the only type effective to psychics is weak to them." I find this especially funny because, even if we ignore the fact that the only ghost types are also poison, and the only ghost move without set damage is lick, ghost type moves just flat out don't effect psychics in gen 1 - even if shadow ball were in gen 1, they wouldn't effect them, and even if it did, it would use gengars physical attack. Ghost is such a meme in gen 1, yet it's still good just on the fact it's immune to normal.

That's in large part because Normal types are OP in Gen 1. STAB Hyper Beam that doesn't recharge if it kills is just way too strong.

@@doopness785 gengar is just outside the top 10, but it is certified highest tier. It's main features are the immunity to normal making it a good switch in on body slams and hyper beams, a perfect switch in for self destruct and explosion, and being the fastest pokemon with a sleep inducing move in OU. However, being immune to hyper beam isn't as good as rhydon resisting it, as the opponent won't have to recharge after using it on gengar.

I did this same challenge a few years back! Except I did Round 1 and I only used rentals. I had so much fun doing it, and I hope you do too. Beating Lance in Round 1 with only the Fire-type rentals was probably one of the hardest challenges I've ever had to do in a Pokemon game and I was so proud when I did it, I had to use insane strats to manage it!

I know it counts as doing a poison run but I'm almost sad there won't be one since I think gen 1 has some neat poison types. Of course, with how much work this was I don't blame you at all for not wanting to do that haha This is such a cool challenge too. I love seeing people do challenges with the first two stadium games. MonoPoison is trash, but there are actually a bunch of really good poison Pokemon also. Tentacruel, Gengar, Victreebel are all great!

I downloaded the emerald rom hack to kill time around a year ago and made it to the elite four and saw chesto resto for the first time and my mind was blown. I think simce you had sub up, the dugtrio didnt see a kill so it had a split chance between using a status or getting rid of sub and ai in pokemon love using status moves. That or it saw sand attack as super effective since its ground lol.

I think that even if you are allowing Tradebacks, Bug is going to be one of the hardest(if not the hardest) since all of them have overall very low Special or they don't have coverage moves. You could always try to cheese with Stun Powder Moth/Butterfree + Guillotine Pinsir I guess tho

@@shadowtitanx3962 Nah, it will be hard but not impossible, they will rely on body slam para's a lot though, they still all have good attack stat and not all teams have max stats. Sabrina's and Rival's Alakazam might be the biggest wall for fighting, but if you get lucky you should be able to make it through.

You can use poliwrath with amnesia, it doesnt really do anything "fighting" related, but it is a fighting type. Has to carry the team, I think, its the best fighting type because it doesnt really function as one, yup, this is gen 1 alright.
