2:01 if you save your double jump you can actually buffer a second mid-air burst immediately after imputing the first one. Jump->Burst->repress jump ASAP->Double jump->Burst again It’s a pretty common strat for speedruns (Love the Shovel Knight videos BTW)

Wooooooooow! I can't believe someone did this without figuring out how to chain burst jumps... I'm honestly equally impressed by your determination as your sheer stupidity. In case someone is wondering, you can quickly press attack after starting a burst jump to charge the next one without throwing a bomb. If you use your double jump after your first burst jump you can do 2 burst jumps in a row, easily clearing any screen, such as the beeto platform in the first stage. Also if you just stand still against Plague of Shadows you win automatically after about 30 seconds.

1:51 That jump is possible in one go if it's executeb by a jump-blast-jump combo. The blast gives a lot of momentum and is enough with the double jump to pass that cliff.

2:00 could have also been solved by burst buffering, which you do by pressing the attack button immediately after bursting which will allow you to do 2 bursts in one jump. It's a tad but hard to get used to at first but it is easily doable after some practice.

1:54 This is way easier than you made it out to be. (I think) If you launch yourself with your explosion, your double jump carries your momentum. Jump to the right, followed by an explosion, and then a double jump. That allows you to reach the ladder without even having to land on the platform. I just tested this, so I think it works for everyone. I'm not very familiar with the special abilities, as i played through the game without them, so maybe yours stops this somehow, but if not then, yeah.

Alright so this is the loop, it took a while to reajust to play a little slower, but at the very least the first level is completeley doable on a fresh save, the timing for the jumping is a lot tighter than with the bombs, but with the quad jumping all the seemingly impossible jumps are completely doable with just the bomb jump

I'm early in the video so maybe you learn later, but there is a short window after you release for the first burst where you can charge up the second without losing your momentum; it's the core trick of the speedrun.

Just an fyi, in the doppelganger fight, if you don't touch any buttons, after ~30 seconds, the fight ends without you having to waste any hp or tonics. And from experience, bosses like Shovel Knight and King Knight (minus the confetti attack) can be taken down very easily if you abuse the Frost Burst, and with the last part of the fight, you should've used The Staff of Striking on the final boss as it easily rips his bottom form up to allow you to deal damage more quickly. Great video though!

not sure if anyone pointed this out for 2:08, you can immediately hold the attack button after a bomb burst without throwing a bomb. you can perform a mid jump and another bomb blast to grab the ladder no new game plus/cheats needed

1:53 You _can_ make the jump without arcana or special bursts using a combination of jumping, releasing the burst, and then doing a mid-air jump, but it's _very_ precise. Too soon and Plague won't grab the ladder. Too late and he will simply fall. Too far from the first platform's ledge (the one without the beetle) and he won't make it either 2:22 Jump, double Jump, burst. Also very precise

Another way to do this is to press e to open the menu, hold j, then press e again to close the menu. It also doesn’t take long because you just have to press j while you’re still in the menu or in the switch from the menu to the level to get the burst.

If you Burst before your second jump, you can get another Burst in. Jump > Burst > Second Jump > Burst Makes the Book section in King Knight's stage a lot easier.

my favourite burst is the spin burst. it's good for destroying blocks if you're particuraly lazy and for damaging enemies midflight. the only problem is that you can fall onto breakable blocks and well,break them...

Okay, for King of Cards without the shoulder bash, it would be either the easies or the hardest Easiest: Quite a few heirlooms give KK quite a bit of mobility and power: The Dueling Glove and the Bubble Frog are the most obvious ones. Hardest: The Shoulder Bash is very intertwined with King Knight's Moveset, more so than the others, as it allows you to spin and thus, dig, leaving quite a few levels impossible
