If anyone’s wondering who the other one is, Nikolinii did a no-sprinkler run on stream a few days after Side Order dropped. He did it a little different though - he used the Pearl Drone sprinkler, had minimal hacks on (including only 1 life) and he didn’t take any chips that would directly boost his damage (things like poison ink included).

The sprinkler shoots ink out in an arc which starts out going upwards and then outwards. The reason why you couldn’t finish off portals on flat ground was because you placed it directly below. to maximize vertical range and closing off portals you should put the sprinkler a little bit away from the base of the portal so that some of the drops will go high enough to hit it. It does a lot less damage but as long as the portal’s base is inked it will not regenerate health.

Explosion radius and damage DO affect the explosions from enemies dying, and also impact the spring-use explosion, alongside portals and Lucky Bombs, which is what is useful on sprinker only.

So if you are allowing lucky bombs in these challenge runs, then a nice little tip is that both splash damage and splash radius buff them. It also buffs the damage and explosion radius of portals when you destroy them, but that doesn’t matter too much in the smollusk fight

yeah allowing lucky bombs helps a lot without them would be harder but maybe next time I'll make a far more strict rule with only using SPRINKLER no pearl glide either perhaps

@@TrinityRBG I think pearl gliding is fair game since it’s purely a mobility tool and no offense capability unless you have something on the pearl drone, like splat bomb. Anyways, maybe a challenge on no swim for and no pearl drone glide perhaps? Your allowed to use swim form only to cancel the pearl glide at the start of the level and when it auto deploys from falling from a high place (though both can naturally be cancelled just by firing the main weapon I believe.

Regarding the discs and the squid rolls honestly it’s up to you about the challenge whether how hard or easy it is because you’re the one who’s doing it. If I were you, I would’ve allowed poison ink because it technically kills from the ink from the sprinkler itself just like how the sprinkler causes the lucky bombs to kill the jello guys. I appreciate your honesty about this challenge tho.

Love the video. It's simply yet enjoyable and very possible with good planning. The discs I would, however, consider a part of Pearl since it gets locked by the "No Drone" danger.

Just finished an all sprinkler run as well, lemme try to offer some warnings; 1. Don't do this run if you don't have 2 hours to spend on it. 2. Don't do this run if you don't have a basic understanding of how to play splatoon/side order 3. Don't do this Now some advice: 1. You can just do a lucky run, the biggest problem with lucky runs is starting them off, and sprinklers can do that easy. 2. Poison, hinderance damage, and sticky ink are an unbeatable combo. 3. Using walls, you can hit almost any target. Almost. I've had the most trouble with splat zones (The flying fish make it impossible) and tower. (These stages are possible, just I'd recommend looking up guides to those stages and seeing if the path is near the ground/a wall with a good angle.)

I think discs are fair game, since they are just items that spawn after kills with the Sprinkler, similar to lucky bombs, inc tanks and armor. Also they are part of the Lucky chips, not Pearl chips. I would have probably also allowed pearl sprinkler, since its a type of Sprinkler, but in the end its always the decision of the person doing the challenge, based on how hard they want it to be.

I agree on both fronts. Pearl sprinkler is just a mobile sprinkler and the disks don’t even do damage they just stall. Drone item drops would probably be ok too.

I'd say that Disc and Lucky Bomb are different than Squid Attack because Squid Attack is something that you have direct control over while the other two are luck dependent. (I was also screaming whenever there was a disc in the final boss fight)

So, according to the Color Chip Collection, to my memory, Splash Radius *does* affect explosions caused by splatting enemies. If I were to try this challenge, the biggest chips to recumbent are Splash Radius, Ink Saver Sub, Splash Damage, Poison Ink, and Ink Attack. I know you passed on that last one a couple times, but Ink Attack affects everything that does damage, not just the main weapon. ... Maybe Ink Attack Size, too...

I feel like if you were to do this challenge again, you should definitely go for ink saver (sub) and any sort of chip that would benefit its damage. I think Lucky Bomb shouldn’t be used. The disk shouldn’t be too much of a problem if you don’t go for the chips for it to spawn in more often from chains.
