Saloma Bridge named after the famous Malay singer actor, Saloma. The cemetery next to it is where she was buried. Kampung Baru is Malay/Melayu heritage most of its residents still want to preserve it although they been offered a fortune for the lands.

Hello friend 👋🏼 Thank you for sharing your Kampung Baru experience. I’m not Malaysian but I feel it is a special place. I like seeing the past preserved for future generations as I think it can enrich people by having access to what life was like. I know this might not be everybody’s opinion but that’s ok. I’m hlad you enjoyed the video and I hope you are enjoying Petaling Jaya ☺️🙏🏽

The earliest Malay village (the origin of Kuala Lumpur) at the confluence of the Klang and Gombak river has been wiped out by the colonial administrators. The British built the administration office buildings there.

Our government, along with private firms, has been negotiating with Kampung Baru residents for years to redevelop this area. As you can see, those properties are owned by different owners, and each of them may be co-owned by different individuals due to its generational history. As someone who loves Kuala Lumpur, I sincerely hope that they never had a deal with the residents. While money can easily build skyscrapers and condominiums, we can never turn back time to preserve its rich history. As Malaysians, we should cherish our heritage and protect the soul of our city, rather than sacrificing it entirely for development. We do not want to be like China where rapid development erases cultural and historical landmarks.

Not poor. All super rich. That’s why they all keep playing the hard to get game. If they are poor all would had sold their lands to developers in seconds. They are bidding their time waiting for the right price. Almost all own condos or properties elsewhere. They just love to relive their childhood living in their parent’s homes
